Merrill. Couple things. #1 Had you routed the antenna cable thru the mounting clip per the instructions it would not have broken. #2 It comes with a lanyard so if the RC comes off it does not get lost. #3 Always read the instructions

Well Mr, electric, With all due respect, I've only been using the XP2, For maybe, 2 months now, I'm still learning it, and Still think it's a great machine, But my RC popped off at least 10 times so far, And I'm not exaggerating, If it wasn't for that tether it would Have gone bye bye, I know I hunt in rough conditions, On the beach Doring storms, But that's a little excessive in my opinion, If they only could develop a little Type of locking system to keep it on the shaft, Because It just seems to pop off too easy, Other than that, great machine, From Sunny Florida, Thanks, 🙂👍🏝

One more quick comment lol. I shortened my antenna wire and ran it through the inside of the shaft. Where i spliced it I soldered the connection and used waterproof heat shrink tubing to seal the connection. Secondly i I picked up an extra shaft and lower rod, so when I do dirt hunting I don't have to constantly remove the antenna wire. It's much easier to just switch the coil for me. Keep up the great work!

Nice vid Merrill. All of my detectors were paid for by others. It really is a great hobby. I had issues with my XPD1 anntenae when I hunted the lakes. The wire broke insude. I bought this on Amazon,(uxcell Low Loss RF Coaxial Cable Connection Coax Wire RG-179 10m) 10 meters of wire and made my own antennae. you just have to strip off the outer jacket and water proof the thin white jacket with heat shrink or silicone. Make a couple up and leave them in the car as spares, just in case. I did. I understand XP is not warranting any broken antennaes .Put the lanyard on. And the black tape that is coming up on the back is exactly that. Black tape. Remove it, it only covers the battery as the plastic is clear under it. I had this same problem and it would not let the remote seat properly on the shaft stem remote bracket. it is $750.00 for a new remote. use the lanyard.

Hi Merrill, solution to prevent control box being lost. I found a little tether that can be snapped together. One end loops through the small tether hole in the box, the other part attaches to the stem mount. I had to drill a tiny hole in the stem fitting to loop the other half of the tether through. I clip the box on then snap the tethers together. If the box comes loose it still remains attached to the stem mount.

Great video Merrill! Awesome finds. That gold chain paid for your whole kit! When your control box fell off the attachment I was thinking "where's the tether that came with it?" I agree that it is a design flaw with the Deus. A lot of guys are swapping out the attachment bracket for an after-market version that is better designed. BTW, I really enjoyed listening to you on Relic Radio podcast the other day. Keep up the great videos and happy digging, Dave.

The Deus 2 is definitely a great detector, one of the top 4 or 5 made. It seems like more and more problems are cropping up with build quality though. Every detector has its strengths and weaknesses. I was watching a CTX user using a manticore and he could tell the difference between iron falseing and good targets because it sounded on iron just like the CTX does. An update should be able to fix the iron issue on the Manticore though.

Great finds!! If you find really old gold coins or jewels (100 years +) don’t polish them, they are worth more with the patina. There is a place on the box where you can put a cord through, the cord clamps between the top stem so you will not lose the box, and it will not drop on the ground when nocked off also. You can judge the size of the targets better because of the faster recovery speed of the XP Deus. The antenna is giving problems more often I hear, as are the bone conduction headphone wires which breaks sometimes.

Super nice hunt. I was going through my beach finds from this summer and I had a gold nugget earring in the pile. My family were skeptical it was real so in the drawer it went when I got home. Sure I had silver coins, rings, and earrings but never got gold before. I was off before Christmas so took it to my brother in laws jewelry store to see if it was real. I was so thrilled .6 penny weight of 14k. It made my year and first gold ever. Not a big find but to me it was awesome. Been detecting off and on since I was a kid and as an adult when time allowed. Never found gold before. I really enjoy your adventures.

I thought it was just gold plated but the only marking on it was 750, I look online and I realize I just found 15 1/2 grams of 18 k gold! I literally started shaking and I felt like I was the king of Metal detecting! Lol, it literally paid for my new metal detector and new shovel and knee pads and got a good find pouch and gloves! There are a lot of good detectors out now and Deaus is one of them they are very over priced as most, the worse thing i have against Deaus is the cave men they have assembling them,it still boil's down to the one that gets the coil over the target first,I once found a 18k bracelet that weighed 49.8 grams, this thing was so gaudy I never wore it anywhere ,I did try it own and several other people and the clasp was so big i had to measure it it was 3/8 wide ,I wound up selling it for 95% of spot to Greek for around 1790.00 PS it was found with a Fisher CZ21 which I no longer use anymore but one of the best ever made

They are literally money making machines! It’s the only hobby where you are guaranteed (with use) to recoup your investment. I just bought the extra wire. Didn’t want to jump through hoops

Awesome gold finds! After you use the xp deus II, do you feel the company need to make modifications on their manufacturing to make it a more solid machine?

Merrill, you live in Freeport. Take it to Doral. They can analyze the chain for you. Doral is a refinery on Atlantic Ave. in Freeport. Nice finds, by the way.

Great video and I'm so glad I found your channel. I just ordered 2 of those remote locking clips for the DEUS on eBay. Worth the $20 USD after seeing what happen to you! Get a couple zip ties for you TX cable, problem solved. Cheers from Asia!

You mentioned being interested in the Nexus detectors so I started watching them on YT. Definitely worth a look (as long as their legit anyway). Can't wait to see what you come up with on the Nexus. Go, Go, Go!

There is no question in my mind that they are legit. I suppose that I should disclose that I speak to their founder often, but I will be buying mine. Georgi is a mad scientist/artist. I see the testing he does and the work he puts in. What they do is against the grain. Analog single frequency induction balance with extreme effort going in to the coil. While it’s fair to criticize that I’ve never swung a Nexus yet (and I’m praising them)….I’m a believer! I can’t wait to try.

Where I live a simplex might pay for itself in 10 years lol. There was no cash money in the southern Appalachians everything was traded in hogs chickens and liquor. We do occasionally find stills and lots of farm iron.

Excellent find my friend! Could you clue me in on what app you’re using for gold prices? Last question…what do you think of the Nokta Legend? The low price makes me suspicious that it might be sub par but by all video accounts it appears to be VERY capable.

Sure makes me wish more that I had closer access to a beach. I’m about 3 hours away and get there 1-2 extended weekends a year. Could be worse, I could be in the Midwest and never see a beach. That was educational, entertaining, and just humorous all rolled into one. Your Sushi moves are hilarious. I will be checking out your previous recordings. May I ask, what do you use to record your digs, smartphone or GoPro? I’m checking out GoPro’s but since I’m just starting maybe I should get a chest mount for my iPhone. Thanks, Dave in Eastern PA.
