John you need to get rid of the log rack so that way you could drive in with your loader and put the directly on to the mill , the you could turn the log when you need to with the loader and chain

3rd generation sawyer here. This is a more primitive version of the mill we used for twenty years. I spent the whole video cringing at how dangerous everything here is. I can’t believe he’s doing any of this! Do not try this at home.

Dam that was a mite sketchy I'd say. Mr John might I ask why you don't have a conveyor belt that carries the drop piece away, are at least a few boards for the drop to land on instead of just an opening over your jack shafts? Sure seems to be a lot safer than the way it's setup now. Just wondering, and you know better than I do, but the way that came off then collapsed onto the roller, and it appeared at first it was going to spring back into you, but fortunately it held on long enough for the rest of it to give it enough push to keep it going forward PS I was watching young fella down in Mississippi the other day, and everytime he needed to turn his logs. He'd hung a electric wench from the joist, and he'd take cable with under the log then using a can't hook attached to the end of cable he'd drive the hook into the log at different places depending on how far he was wanting to turn it. As long as the timber, and shear weight of the log on the carriage, it be advantages to hang two different winches from the reinforced beams I'd install wherever it felt they should be. They've got nice winches that have wireless controllers, so that you could run them independently of the other, are have them sync together in order to have better control over the logs turning. Might be worth looking into the something like that, and for little money and effort it'd surely make it a hellogalot safer for one man army such as yourself

hi now lets just think on what you have written , conveyor may run 10 k to 20k for a new set up installed . .the opening is the way Frick designed it . so keeping in mind i am still putting this together , then the winch in the rafters , would you really winch a 3000 pound off them , they were made for a load from the top not a pull from the bottom . then once again there is a cost factor , you must be a multi millionaire . all your ideas are great and i am glad you brought them , john
