Big Omelette in a Wolfgang Puck Mini Rice Cooker

Trying to make a Turkey Sausage and Cheese Omelette in a Wolfgang Puck Portable Rice Cooker. (Mini Pressure Cooker) I just got it so I am learning. I might not have done it right but it was good when it was done. www.rickmammana...

I've used a rice cooker for several years to cook all kinds of things in the truck, I would just hold the button down so it won't pop up, but stir the eggs or anything liquid until it's cooked thoroughly and you're good to go.

Not a pressure cooker - it is simple to use, but not fast like a pressure cooker. But one advantage is you can open it an check things and stir - as there is no pressure to release

My guess is the liquid cooked at the bottom so the machine thought it was done, prob needed stirring to distribute the liquid which may not have come out as one solid omlet in the end.

Works great with 2 eggs, cheese, onions, bell peppers out of the fridge usually with a single cycle. With 3 eggs 2 cycles, I keep diced bell peppers, onions, and saluted mushrooms in the freezer, toss them in with cheese and 3 eggs from the fridge and it works out great. Usually prep and start then hop in the shower, dry off and start a 2nd cycle. By the time I'm shaved, dressed it's ready. Need to understand pressure cookers, since it lets out steam it's not a pressure cooker, as others have pointed out.

You have to stir it! It senses the temp at the bottom...as long as the liquid is at the bottom it will cook.

The reason it took the rice cooker so long to cook, is because he put in FROZEN sausage and no water. The cooker needs a little water to build up a little steam and when frozen food is placed in the cooker it will take much longer to heat up and cook. This is a fabulous rice cooker that does much more than rice.

You might try putting in the frozen sausage for the first cooking while preparing the eggs. Add the eggs and cook for a little while then stir and continue cooking till done.

I got one a couple of weeks ago. I have used it almost every day. Darn, that little thing is worth every penny of $20.00. I have cooked different things in mine. I am into cooking Quinoa for breakfast. It takes about 25 min. but it is so good. I believe the frozen sausage was your problem. i would keep trying if I were you

Hey Rick, Thanks for posting this video. The recipe looks good, but as you said - that took a lot of time and work. But I wonder if you tried that recipe - sort of like you made the bread. That is - put the egg mixture in a container such as a two cup glass pyrex container and steamed in on the rack in your electric pressure cooker? By the way, if you like poached eggs, there is a great gadget called a Poach Pod. It steams the eggs rather than actually poaching. Anyway, something to note as a fellow kitchen gadget fan.

I have one of these, makes great rice but haven't used it for anything else. QVC has a 5 cup Perfect Cooker that is digital and you can set the cook time and not have to keep coming back to hit the cook button every so often to cook whatever it is you're cooking. I guess I'll get one of them, I'm a senior and it looks like something that will make life better for me!!!

I got another advice - add some milk in the whole mix. That might help with early shut offs. To be honest though, you have a pretty cheap rice cooker - if you buy a more expensive one with display, timers and such, they tend to work better and do not turn off prematurely. Cheers.

I think starting with frozen sausage probably slowed things down considerably. A pressure pot doesn't start timing till it reaches temp. Probably not so with this little guy.If all the ingredients were room temp, or warmer (in the case of the sausage) it probably would have worked out.
