Big ocean waves crashing into rocks and exploding - HD 1080P

Close-up video of big ocean waves crashing into rocks and exploding high into the air and past the camera. Filmed so close to the break, you can almost taste the salt spray!
On the day I filmed this, the swell was peaking at 15 to 20 foot (4-5 meters) which made for some spectacular waves crashing against the rocks. To give you an idea of scale; the rocks on the other side of the frame are about 20 feet (6m) high.
Just a quick note on the color of the foam for those who are not familiar with different types of sea foam. This video was shot in a pristine marine nature reserve with excellent water quality. The type of foam produced by diatoms is usually cream to caramel in color and in this area is due to the up-welling of nutrients after prolonged windy conditions when their populations thrive. It's because of the up-welling of nutrients and resulting phytoplankton blooms that the sea is able to support so much life and is therefore a sign of a healthy and productive ocean. Foam is produced when the phytoplankton are torn apart by the crashing waves and their spilled cell contents acts like soap, trapping air as it's churned up in the surf.

I got a lighthouse that works for my Chirstmas & sat my mobile beside the lighthouse and played this video & it was very effective, but as for the video it was really trimendous l thurly enjoyed it with these Hugh waves crashing against the rocks on the shore 👍👍.

Hi. At the time I thought viewers would be bored between big crashes so jumped to the next wave each time. I dont think there are and loops... just skips. I agree though I should have just let it play through in real time.🌝👍

I might film again in this area when we have big swell again because there are some other sites nearby where the water shoots straight up and very high when waves are big enough. Anxiously awaiting our winter storm swell which is a bit late this year... hope it makes up for the wait in size. :)

charlieseable I live in Cape Town, South Africa so most of my filming is along the Western Cape South coast and around the Cape peninsula. If you ever shoot a video or 2 near where you stay, I would love to see them.

steevee1945 Thanks, glad you enjoyed watching it! I filmed it at Steenbras river mouth near Gordon's Bay, South Africa. Looking forward to April/May when our autumn and winter swell starts to pick up. I should be able to film some dramatic ocean scenes this year and will definitely upload the best to YT.
That one rock in the front never seems to get sprayed by the waves!
