My wife and I were born and lived in Pensacola, Fl most all of our lives and have been to Big Lagoon State Park many times. We are now living in Southern California enjoying our retirement.... It was delightful seeing the sights of the park in your video and made us homesick... Thank you for sharing your time there. Hurricane Sally did a lot of damage to the Pensacola area; however, it won't be long before all will be opened up again... I encourage you to make a return trip there when all the repairs have been made... We enjoy watching your videos.

Paul, thanks for the comment. Nice to hear from people who had been local to the area. Thanks for the idea to stop back after the park is fully open. I am sure there is much more to see and do once the facilities are fully operational. Thanks again!

January 2023 and most of the park is still closed due to hurricane Sally. Sad that repairs have not been made

Thanks for the update. Too bad they haven't invested to reopen the closed areas.

John, another great review. Thank you for being candid about the storm damage. The past couple of years have not been kind to the the panhandle and points west, as you know. Agree that the camp sites and roadways could stand an upgrade. It has been great to watch some of your recent videos on your campouts to various parks in the panhandle of a Florida and Alabama. Yes, it easy to return back to favorites, ours are Lake Louisa, Colt Creek, and Jonathan Dickinson, but have to get and explore others... we just went a state forest campground a couple weeks ago outside of Inverness and had a great time in different surroundings. Thumbs up as always! Safe travels!

Thomas, thanks for the comment. Agreed that those are all nice parks. We have several more reviews on the way from new to us state parks in Florida. They should be coming out regularly over the next few months. Thanks again!

Very thorough review. This is a long shot, but have you stayed at St. Andrews State Park? We have a choice between the two and are worried about noise at St. Andrews, Alice

Alice, I have not stayed at St. Andrew’s State Park. I’d recommend using Campendium.com to research it. Thanks!

Wow, I'm passing that area next week on my bike tour. I'm cycling from Marianna to Pensacola and then Pensacola to Panama City. Do you know if they accept tent campers in that park?

I have yet to visit a state park that isn’t pet friendly. All have leash requirements when walking them. Some may have specific trails where they don’t want pets, so you’ll need to contact the park if you plan to take your pet on the trails at the specific park. Thanks!
