So realistic the model was also a POS like the full scale original

I have this helicopter and it flies like a dream. Number one the engine was not running right and it was shaking everywhere as a lot of you have already said. This actually is one of the easiest helicopters I've ever flown it is so stable this pilot should've aborted this as soon as it started shaking and packed it up. These machines from Vario are made so well they typically never come down. Of course I don't like to see anybody crash so I feel bad it went in but deftly his own fault

Looks as if the pilot got disoriented and kept negative pitch on the collective, causing the helicopter to drop. The helicopter is underpowered and has vibration issues. Minor repair but needs an engine with more power and the cause of the vibration needs to be found.

this crash serves him right, it was shaking all over the place before take off and you can clearly hear there was something wrong with the engine but instead of aborting, the pilot was too proud and continued, he paid the price.

Good thing is the camera is so shaky you can hardly tell how much the chopper is shaking!

That heli was built poorly and despite obvious vibration issues continued on and the engine was severely under powered. Don't have any sympathy, the pilot brought this on himself. Machine should've been packed up for home, fixed out of balance parts and get a better power plant. What's a waste.

Van Litespeed well It was really windy and he was flying scale low head speed. It all may very well had been balanced but that wind was too much. Problem with wind is you get a good gust that gives a lot of false lift and as soon as the gust flows away your heli falls to the ground just like it did here.

Pilot error starting at waking up that day. There were so many red flags the pilot got what he deserved.

A lot of vibration for such a big model. Out of balance blades, or tracking not spot on?

Looks like it's shaking too much might have caused some wirings to come loose. If the blades are balanced and tracking perfectly already, you might need to loosen the rotorhead a bit, to allow the blades to flap up and down more or install a more flexible rotor blade to reduce shaking. Fortunately, you didn't crash that badly and the damage is fairly moderate.

Too short of fuel and lubrication in the engine. do not see any smoke from the exhaust, which should be a little smoke. And too much imbalance in the rotor blades, one learns by doing.

Noticed a 'twitch' or what looked like a radio glitch moments before she lost altitude and went in. Then there's the unusual vibration throughout and a real bad instability that in my opinion rendered this bird unsafe and certainly not display worthy - she could have ended up anywhere and there's nothing like a large scale heli to ruin a spectators hairdo! Fly safe(er) chaps

If you pause at 4:33 you can see something fall out of the heli. Something broke in flight. Still, it was way underpowered.

Someone forgot to balance their blades...

It appears to be Vortex Ring State. The R22 is a good training helicopter, but it is underpowered and does have it's limitations, just like the Cessna C150. If you operate it within its limits, it is a very good bird to learn to fly in. That is an exceptionally nice RC model. I hope you get her fixed to fly another day. I'm looking to see the Big Scale R44!

Not an expert, but I have to disagree. It was windy, which would have not allowed for VRS. Gyro mount loose/or lost a collective linkage.

At 4.33 something small can be seen breaking off from the tail section and falling. Mechanical failure.

Bit too windy mate.

yes to sad he crash but yes this heli have many issues the engine sound lean to me I don't see that much RPM at main blades pilot error 100% hope he fly better next time.

The heli had vibrations all a long. It was waiting to crash! An expensive lesson learnt. Hope it can be fixed!

The gale force wind blowing past the mic might give you a clue.

Now with that being said , the loss of any bird sucks I fly a raptor 50 and ever time I stack it what makes it even worse is that thunder tiger is no longer available. So when I wreck that's pretty much the end of the line for that bird till I find parts

Looked like a anti-torque rotor glitch just before loss of control.

Don't feel sorry for him.He had many chances to land it but he chose to keep flying.

the thing was tearing itself apart since the beginning! look the amount of vibration that machine was going through! i wouldn't be impressed if it was a battery cable that broken off. pretty but badly built.

A lot of time, money and work goes into these heli's. just should not have flown this in the wind with the way it sounded and with the real one's having wind limitations right down to ineffective tail rotor due to wind! Sad to see!

That heli was built to specs PERFECTLY !!! In real life the R22 is an underpowered piece of crap and here in this video the Remote Control version has the same fault!!!! This is 100% scale , flaws and all.

YUP! Just like the real ones!!! First of all you had the engine to lean and second your blades were way out of balance and third, the head speed was way to low to even attempt to fly it a second time..... you should of left it on the ground after the first time it touched back down from lack of engine power and head speed.

That was shaking like a shitting dog from the get go. I've seen less vibration with a bent main mast. Should never have parked it up when it was clear it was sick. Shame.

poor setup, engine not tuned correctly, and to top it off it is a Vario, LOL, they all sound crap.. its a gasser Zenoah R22 engine, which is so underpowered for this 1/4 scale size model, they all sound as if they gonna fail, I have flown these and other gassers, they sound awful, most upgrade the engine to a 29cc engine, even that sounds like a chain saw.

Whole lotta shakin goin on. You should work on your balancing skills
