BIG GIPP: Escaping Murder Attempt, Goodie Mob, Pimp C, 2pac, And More

Big Gipp came through Hot 1079 to chop it up with B High to share some knowledge and kick some flavor. During the conversation Gipp talked about Pimp C not wanting to do "Big Pimping" with Jay Z, 2pac playing "Hit Em Up" for the Goodie Mob first, nearly being murdered while sitting in his car and a whole lot more.

Before Migos made the Culture album, Outkast and Goodie Mob was literally our culture, they were all we had when we were teenagers, their music meant everything to us, people don't understand, Outkast and Goodie Mob wasn't just music it defined our culture like nothing else. Gipp is right, before the trap age in rap, artists could not sound like another artist, you couldn't have the same sound and vibe in your music...it was considered lame and even the fans would shun the copycats artists. Now it's different.

Absolutely loved this interview. I reflected back on how I started coming to ATL from IL at 10y/o (over 20 yrs ago), almost every summer to visit my aunt and cousins who moved there and I would come back home putting ppl on to the music I heard. Also, hearing him mention Mama Wes brought back my memory of visiting Houston and having the honor to be introduced to her, sit and chat with her briefly, and took a pic a few months before she passed. She had on a red Dickies outfit too and was so real.
