    What did people think would happen? This is a good example of why pregnancy should occur naturally or not at all for someone. Infertility, I’m sure is heart breaking, but children should not have to pay the price for a persons desire to have a child.

    Exactly! These people aren't thinking of how they can serve and love the child; they are just serving their own desires and to hell with the cost the child will pay for them to get what they want. It's selfish and sick.

    Desperation will fog up someone’s judgment but they are just as much a victim as is the child. The opportunist company that took advantage of the infertile person is to blame probably more than these parents. Children are a blessing and the desire to have them isn’t wrong.

    I mean, probably a good example of why we shouldn't treat cancer because we have too many sick people clogging up the system due to selfishly wanting to continue to live. Treating a disease (like infertility) is not wrong, people just find ways to do wrong with something meant for right.

    @@kylethedalek Right! Did they even explain to him the problems that result in cornering the genetic market? It's not good for the offspring if inbreeding happens. But the banks should be turning him away for donating over a certain number of times! Regardless of whether they explained that or not.

    I remember back when we had cattle, my father had all of that stuff documented. Which bull was in which pen with the cows, the cows number tags and if they were pregnant he knew which bulls were the fathers of every single calf. Cause you don’t want the fathers to be bred with their daughters. For the females we did keep, we just made sure they didn’t share a pen with their fathers for the summer and that it was with a different male

    My best friend's father does the same with their horses. their breeds were meant for racing so he used security cameras & his computer to document where the the mares and stallions were inside their pens, which ones were fertilized with the stallion's fur, etc.

    Guys shouldn't donate their sperm. They can't know what will happen to it and where the children they fathered will end up or how they'll be treated. Nor is it responsible to help create kids who won't have a father. The same goes for women donating eggs or becoming surrogates out of "altruism." It isn't good for the kids in many ways.

    Well, for one, people aren’t consuming sperm (at least not donated sperm). Additionally, if there’s an issue with cattle, thousands may get sick, if there’s an issue with sperm (in this case overdonation), very few are likely affected in a major way. So I really think the cattle/sperm comparison is really really dumb

    🤦🏻‍♀️ The problem isn't if he has a bunch or first gen kids. The problem is if those kids unknowingly marry one another and produce inbred children. Hello West Virginia, is calling. They want their blue people back. In cattle breeding, often a farm will have many cows and 1 bull. But you can't let the bull bred his daughters. So they are careful to track whose offspring are whose and then sell the bull and buy a new one to ensure there's no inbreeding.

  • @amyw7200

    @amyw7200

    The analogy of the cattle breeding has ZERO to do with meat consumption or harm to humans from eating it. It has everything to do with making sure you don't end up with inbred cattle.

    If there’s a hidden genetic mutation in the sperm and it matches with the wrong woman, it can produce children with disabilities or chronic diseases. These companies may not be allowed to disclose information on other children from the same donor that may have been later found to develop certain conditions. Just to put one example of the many problems that this can bring.
