Hi Dave thanks for help. I have a question maybe off topic. I have vandoren mouthpieces for my soprano and tenor, they are easy to get the pitch right throughout the range. I have a few cheaper ones, where I have to push the mouthpiece down on the cork til it bottoms out in the mouthpiece to get the pitch right but usually one of the ranges is still out, is there anything else I can do so I can use these mouthpieces with out playing out of pitch? regards john

jgs000, the short story is if they don't tune well they're not a good acoustical match for your horn. Don't bother with them, use the ones that match up and play properly through the whole horn. Just my opinion of course whatever works best for your situation. Keep on, Dave

One little story. I used to play alto and organ at the Hilton near me with a fine guitar player 22 months every weekend. My one mouthpiece was very in tune to standard pitches, the other was a little off. The "little off" one was the one that tuned best with his guitar ;)))))

thanks for responding, I am just about a half step out on the bottom, its not out enough to make me crazy, but I have been out of tune and almost lost my mind trying to use fiber reeds LOL
