Big Daddy Roth-Von Dutch discuss Pinstriping and more/Part 4

Update--Lot of requests for this. The entire MP4 of this tape can be had here
docs.google.com/file/d/0B0zMQ...
Big Daddy Roth interviewing Von Dutch back in the early-mid eighties. At Von Dutch's garage/shop.
They talk about-Von Dutch's Dad, typography, pin striping and all that entails, gold leaf, squirrel hair for brushes, oil in the ground and sign painting.
And my favorite, Von Dutch holds forth on design and being intuitive. About how you know when it's "wrong." It looks wrong.
He has some foreign bikes that are discussed. Toward the end they show that Von Dutch also is a muzzle loader hunter and keeps black powder around in tins. Since he's obviously a heavy smoker I found that funny.
Got the tape from Ed Roth's mail order back in the 80s.
I noticed there are 10 minutes worth of this interview on the internet. Here's the whole she-bang. Quality better but still 2nd generation video. That quality is the reason for the seeming smudge under Von Dutch's nose. The video is averaging the dark nostril holes that are prominent on Von Dutch and darkening the area. When it's close and tight there is no smudging.
This is not monetized. The intent is to share something I'm assuming has become rarified almost to the point of being lost.

I clicked on the first part of this interview thinking I wasn't gonna make it past part 3. Before I knew it was 3AM and I was at the end of the entire interview sad that there wasn't any more. As an artist, that was one of the most inspiring and entertaining interviews and demonstrations I've EVER seen. I've certainly seen photos of Von Dutch but I had no idea the man was so personable, eloquent, and damn knowledgeable. Thanks a million for sharing this Plaz. True history.

The elephant is like 100 times cooler than anything that has ever been recorded on reality TV. Because you know what you are seeing is Roth naming an animal off the top of his head and Von Dutch, no rehearsal, reacting to the suggestion. Improv pin striping. And of course Roth and Von Dutch giggling as it takes shape. And then the line work being pure logo-icon genius tops it off.

Von Dutch started kind of stiff. Wary of what ever wacky notion that Roth had there of pointing a camera at him and asking questions. Giving a couple of short, clipped, going-to-be-a-bad-interview type of answers. And then Von Dutch turns on responding to the good, intelligent questions and does a great brain dump. Happy to share what he knows. And he knows a lot. You can hear Roth learning stuff a couple of times.

I have never even seen a Hiller (think that's how its spelled) pinstriping brush. Can anyone tell me who made them or what happened to them?
