Big Daddy Kane Talks Giving Jay Z His Big Break

Ойын-сауық

www.vladtv.com - The legendary Big Daddy Kane sat down with VladTV where he spoke on his relationship with Jay Z, saying the Brooklyn boy was introduced by mutual friend Jaz-O who asked Kane if Jay could spit on a track with him. Kane agreed and thought Jay was nice enough to take on the road, and while he was never Kane's hypeman (as many believe), he would spit a few bars for about ten minutes while Kane changed back stage.
Kane says he and Jay still have a good relationship, with Hov bringing him out for Summer Jam and for the opening of the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Kane is 1of the few golden age mcs that have grown old gracefully.I dont sense an ounce of bitterness. Most cats would've ripped Jay and said since they pit him on they feel he shouldve done more like give em a mansion n some mills in the account.Kane just takes everything in stride.Although imo Jay shouldve done more.

Most young cats don't remember how huge BDK was back in the day. BDK had a very big cross-over adult impact . I remember the tour. BDK appealed to a large audience during the 90's. A few of his hits at that time was produced byTeddy Riley. Which Teddy Riley was one of the top R&B producers.

Everybody's on some ish! LOL. Here's some knowledge for you on Kane: BDK is still currently touring nation and worldwide... does shows, all around, all year long. He's made a collective album called 'Las Supper - Back to the Future', just last year... it's an an old school soul/hip hop fusion album with live band... and his lyrics and flow are STILL, always... on point. He drops singles, every year, a few of them... with various hip hop artists, features and his own singles... just not a new solo album, since 98's Veteranz Day'. Don't get it twisted... he doesn't need Jay-Z's money... Kane's been doing this for over 26+ years and is enjoying his life and music He does it his way and is successful at it. Just 'cause he isn't in the media coverage, 24-7 like Sean Carter's life is, doesn't mean he's not eating right. He's doing great. Hov, pays respect... every now & then to the forefathers of the game (as proven with the Hot 97 Summer Jam & Barclays Center cameos). And besides all of that... he's one of the most down to earth, great people in Hip Hop, and in general... who really gives his all, in his performances and takes the time for his real fans.

Kane is one of my all time favorite hip hop artist. That's when it was real and it was insulting to copy someone's style. Glad he was honest about Jay Z. No one would have guessed he would get as big as he has.

The Jay-Z reference doesn't make as much sense when you leave out the set-up bars. Instead of starting at "I seen the same thing happen to Kane" start at the bars that set that line up. "...then I skated to 4 (million sold) before I went on tour, I came back and it's plain you niggas ain't rapping the same, fuck the flow you jacking our slang, I seen the same thing happen to Kane". When you get the whole picture it makes a lot more sense and there's no way you could take it as a diss. Niggas bit everything about Kane, from the slang to the flow to the look. Jay was simply saying niggas were biting his style in the same way.

Damn just like in Stars Wars episode 1 when Qui Gon was killed by Darth Maul and Obi Won had to avenge his death. The apprentice surpassed the master. I wish Jaz and Jay would do more records together after "jigga what". A Jaz/Jay, Jay/Biggie, Jaz/Jay/Biggie album together would epic omg. Somebody sign him up asap. Hate seeing great artists not get they shine.

He put Jay-Z on when he was a nobody. Jay-z should get in touch with Big daddy Kane invite this man to his California Mansion or out to lunch or something, you never forget the people who gave you your start in life.

A lot of people keep saying Jay wouldn't have made it without this and that person. He would have because he started his OWN LABEL when nobody wanted to sign him. I heard Damon say that out his own mouth. Sure, Jay may have hopped on a few cats records before that but it wasn't life changing money. Maybe rocafella start up money off that and other hustles at the most. And then he stayed consistent to this day.

True. I just think when people say that they just mean it would have taken him a different route, but in the words of Jay himself: "I'm hearing mothafuckas saying they made Hov, yea well ok so MAKE ANOTHER HOV".

QuadrantBottomHalf, Rocafella Records was started by DAME, BIGGS, n JAY Z. They played their positions for the most part...Dame (CEO), Biggs (CFO), n Jay (the rapper/face).

Then you see Dame Dash going hard for Jay, him blowing up, then shaking everybody and doing Jay. lots of people want him to acknowledge their part in his career, but its never enough
