Big Creek Iowa Wiper - Cold Day, Hot Bite (Fishing For Hybrids)

It's cold, but the wind has finally died down, so it's time to hit the water. Jake and Keith head to Big Creek in Central Iowa to see if they can get on a crappie bite. The crappie aren't willing to play, but the wiper sure are!

Looks fun, almost as fun as getting them out of the kayak! A lot easier getting there in a boat though! Glad to see those go back, hope they can grow nice and big some day.

Agreed we are all for having a meal now and then but we see way too many ppl keeping bucket loads. Would b nice to get some double digits out of here!

Awesome, got wipers in some of our local cooling ponds for power plants here in wi. Not that great eating at the water temps there stay freaking warm and the meat of the fish become mushy, but lots of fun. Gotta come to Iowa and try it out, seemed like a blast!

Keep at it and move around if you’re not having luck. Most fish in there move a lot during the day. Good luck to you!

We were using a lindy/Carolina rig with a minnow and also a 1/8 oz jig with a twister or swim bait. White

They’re super nomadic year round. Really have to just hit it on the right day. Wish we had more insight for ya!

Lots of good shore fishing out there. The jetties are a good place to start. Ate June they can be really good!
