I just noticed, that that Kellogg's bootleg nano had an E-Book option. Imagine reading a book, on that tiny, low resolution, low quality screen. It's hard enough reading on a phone in a car, but imagine being in the back seat of a car, reading a book on this tiny 1 inch screen. Now that's what I call hard mode!

These MP3s back in 07 were amazing to just have around. The fact that we could take music in such a small device that could also just stick to your cars stereo was so convenient. Tesco in the UK sold a red equivalent of that super generic one, the extra feature being you could change the colour of the led behind the screen, and there where weird little animations it would play when you turned it off.
This first USB thumb drive-like thing that worked with one AAA was my first nugget on my 22th birthday from my father. It had 128 MB of storage. And I had to compress my music to get a decent amount of songs on there. It had quite good audio quality. I used NiMH rechargeable AAAs, I always had about 12 in my pocket in case they ran out of juice.
I went through like 50 nano rip offs because my parents still thought it was still “saving money” vs buying an actual nano and being done with it...

The first MP3 Player I had was one of those cheap nuggets. It worked well for about 3 years and then died. Fair enough for about 15 bucks at the time.

For anyone trying to convince a loved one to buy them something decent - 1. "Buy cheap, buy twice".. or 50x 2. "Expensive things are usually expensive" 3. I heard it about headphones but applies to everything: "The most expensive headphones are the ones you don't use"

I had two of those way back in the mid 2000s. Good memories. Seemed so advanced at the time compared to my old cassette Walkman :) seemed there was a one huge factory in China that made these things for the entire world

"SD expansion slot included!" That's a _feature_ in most high end smartphones these days and not even all of them have that. Craig just flexed on all of us.

My phone has a microSD slot in it. Though my phone is much more entry level. It even had a headphone jack.

@@EpicB I have an S8, which is a 2017 flagship with an SD card slot and a headphone jack. It can even play 24 mbps audio (stereo 32 bit 384 kHz), so it is nugget certified.
0:33 Ah yes, I remember begging my mom for that $20 piece of junk at K-Mart
I had that exact same Pepsi MP3 player. All I had on it was the top 40 from September of 2006. Listened to that thing for 2 years.
This kinda reminds me of the Gameboys with just random logos on them and they were just called whatever emblem they slapped on them.

I used to have one of those, I dream of finding it again but I know I never will. Every once in a while I'll hear a song on spotify and realize that it was a song I used to have on my mp3 and be absolutely FILLED with joy.
