BIG CATS IN BRITAIN? STRANGE OBJECT CAPTURED ON FILM

BIG CATS IN BRITAIN? STRANGE OBJECT CAPTURED ON FILM.
In this captivating video, witness the remarkable moment when an enigmatic object was captured on film, leaving me questioning the existence of big cats roaming freely here in the English countryside.
Large feline creatures have been spotted here in Britain for years. There are literally thousands of eyewitness accounts of pumas, leopards and even things that defy expectation.
Let’s bring the existence of big cats here in Britain to the forefront of discussion.

There is nothing to do with the whole ethos of the 401 files family as we are. Mental illness is growing when we all least expect it. I suffer from PTSD personally and the MPD. If you can talk to a close one. If not open a conversation away from any condition you may be dealing with. Away from that a chat helps alot. I'm here 24/7 for all. Tc on that count. Sorry for the buzzkill

7:58 canine prints have claw marks , feline do not. also the main pad on a canine print usually comes to a sort of point, a feline print is more M shaped at the same place on the main pad. the print you're showing has both claw marks and a point on the main pad, I would say it is the print of a large dog . just my opinion, but I've hunted mountain lion and coyote in Texas for 40 plus years.

Completely agree, sometimes the non-retractable claw marks don't imprint or can be hard to see. Often a cast with reveal the dog claw marks when not visible if the print is in vegetation.

While Mountain lion do have that "M" look to the top of their main pad, it's the bottom of that pad that's the main give it away with dogs/Leopards in the UK. With dogs, that centre pad has a flatter bottom with just "bulges" at either end. Like this. U--U. It's flattened in the centre. But Leopards are like this. UUU. They have 3 "bulges" at the bottom. Not just the two as in the dog. And of course, you'll have to picture the rest of the centre pad and paw print above my quirky diagrams. But it's the best I can do on youtube. But if you _Google_ *Leopard or dog paw prints,* you'll see.

Firstly apologies to all the 401 family for my absence. Big cats in the UK are no strangers. IMO.. we have so many open cave systems and mine shafts where any predator can make a den. We had wolves, bears, etc. in our history. Is anything eradicated? I beg to differ. To quote Jurassic Park.. "Nature finds a way," the cats were let loose by an owner when licenses came into effect.

In the 1970s my grandad experienced a big cat sighting. My grandad left the army and at that time live just outside of London. He decided to make the move north and found a farming job up in Yorkshire, it was just a labouring job, the farmer helped my grandad out by letting him live there for free. A month or so in the farmer left a old sheep out in a open field and told my grandad that the sheep would be gone in the morning. My grandad told me a few hour after the farmers german shepherd went from chilled out to on guard, but the farmer wasnt worried. The following morning my grandad went to the field and as thought the sheep had gone just a patch of wool, but one thing he did see is the path the sheep was dragged and blood marks. Still the farmer wasn't worried. He than told my grandad about the licensing that came in and that a local guy had let free around 4 to 6 leopards 3 females 1 male he knew for sure and was told about another 2 being let loose by him yet wasnt 100 percent on that. The farmer also told him he had been told of cubs but wasnt sure if that was true and that most the locals didnt believe it either because of there being no evidence. The locals never see the cats but all knew they where there and all seen evidence of that. My grandad asked if the farmers around the local area where ever bothered about the cats especially with the live stock. He told him no because there was an abundance of deer and other animals for the cats to go for and that all the farmers had dogs that would deter the cats away from the live stock and if they did catch a sheep or another animal it tended to be a injured or much older animal which farmers where not as bothered about lossing. One night the farmer set up another sheep in the field and said to my grandad we will camp out and hopefully see the cat, he said tho that most time when trying this that the cats where probably aware of there presence and most likely wouldnt show. But that night the sheep was left and at around 2am the dog alerted off the presence of something so my grandad with the farmer run about 4 to 500 meters to where they where camping to the field the sheep was in. The German shepherd was way out infront yet when they reached the field the dog was nervous fur up and growling, the sheep was fine but the farmer lit up the area the dog was growling and my grandand said all he seen was a black mass with glowing eyes and realised it was the cat. The farmer signed for his dog to leave and come to him and so the dog did and the farmer walked back to the tent they had pitched. About 2 hours later they than heard the attack on the sheep. They didnt go and look they left it a few hours and then went to investigate and as befor the sheep was gone, bits of blood and wool was left and the trail in the grass. The farmer tied the dog up on a fence post and him and my grandad followed the trail the cat left, and 6 or 7 hundred meters in this dense wood area the sheep was there dead (graphic) so will not get into it 😂. The best thing was tho you could see the prints the cat had left behind but not only that you could see cub prints. They where amazed at this as the farmer had never witnessed cubs befor and later on went and told other local farmers and villagers about the find. Sadly tho about 2 to 3 weeks after that after a few years of knowing about the cats there was a big presence of police and what looked to be wealther officers, forest like workers and zoo like workers (Didnt know how else to describe them), without any knowing came into the area for around a week literally not leaving always a group there around the clock for around a week and then suddenly they left without any communication to the locals and sadly after that no more sightings. My Grandad told me because he mentioned a black mass cat, told me they where spotted cats it was just the thick vegetation and the darkness that made the cat look black. He told me for months afterwards the farmer would still leave a sheep out but it would always be alive in the morning . They both with other villagers would try and find out what could of happened as it was quite obvious what the police and the others were doing capturing the cats. They found out a zoo called dartmoor zoo had introduced new leopards to the zoo. The thing was it was 3 cats and 2 cubs, yet the locals knew of upto potentially 6 cats where let free so potentially there could of been cats still out there but because of there already being a high ranking female in that area they where left to find there own territory. Know im not saying these have breed and made a population of cats most likely without a couple of males around they probably died out. Why i believe this story of my grandad is simply because he's my grandad but also i was watching about a zoo with my lad who at the time was around 7 and the film is based on Dartmoor zoo ino crazy . My grandad had dementia so wasnt really fully there but than randomly came out and spoke this full story to us something he hadnt done for a good few months. My Nan also backed the story up, they where together and married at the time but due to work my grandad left my nan to find work and to plant roots which they ended up doing a few months later when my grandad found permanent work as a truck driver, she told me he would send letters to her and he would write about the cats alot unfortunately she kept the letters but had know knowledge of where they could be. Unfortunately both have pssed on and i have searched high and low but no luck in finding the letters

Which is silly. Mountain lions used to be literally everywhere and its not like the current populations just care about state lines like people do. My step dad was insistent that mountain lions haven’t been in Illinois in a long ass time. Wouldn’t ya know it we had 3 different DNR confirmed sightings with pictures video and prints/scat. One of them was a mere 100 yards away from my personal hunting ground/farm. So naturally when I go check all of our farms for whatever I am always packing heat. Always have because bobcats can get pretty mean too and sometimes coyotes get pretty brave if there are enough of them but I always told my step dad “I don’t want to chance it if a wolf or a big cat happens to be in the area. Not to mention the fact of the really far fetched possibility for me but bigfoot or aliens or some crazy thing that will probably never happen but might so I am paranoid. Anyway yeah i don’t care where you live. Having a firearm in the woods is always good. Its total b.s that our perfectly good friends across the pond don’t have the right to the 2nd amendment and firearms like we do. Damn shame

I’ve seen one in Wales whilst quietly setting up my drone for a mapping job; it was big, but timid and only got a glance. Amazing to see one though, I think it was a feline, just a hunch.

Those were dog paw prints. Not cat. Had a mate who had Saint Bernard dogs and they have huge paws. Adult male hand size. Also, it looked more dog like the way it was running. That very last split second when it turned to the right. More dog like than cat like. *But as for big cats in the UK? My mind is still open. But I'm more inclined to say there are, than not. And I'll explain why.* Many years ago, 40 odd and in mid summer, when I was in my early 20's I had an MG Midget. Late one night, about 1am, I was driving back home on the Worcestershire, Warwickshire border heading into Warwickshire. I turned down a road just outside a village and my headlights caught a large, dark, dog like beast running down the center of the road. It ran for about 5 or 6 seconds then veered to the left where there was a verge of about 30 ft, before a hedge and then open fields. When it got to the hedge, it stopped and briefly turned towards the car. It was still in my full beam lights as I'd turned slightly to keep it in the light. Large yellow glowing glowing eyes. Then the weirdest thing. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up. Within the blink of an eye, it had jumped the gate leading to the field and vanished. It was only then that I realised I was driving the MG with the roof down. It was what i did in the MG. As soon as I could, the roof would come down. Even on sunny winter days. Heating on full, warm hat and coat. Great fun 8-))... _I digress..._ *But I know this much.* *A -* It was _NOT_ a large dog. I've had dogs and cats all my life and I know how they run and what they look like when they are running. Unless you've had both cats and dogs, it's difficult to explain, but obvious when you compare them. *B -* Dog's don't have the sort of tail this beast had. Definitely erring towards a Leopard'esque style of tail. Definitely not Alsatian looking as I've had those boys before. *C -* Why did the hairs on the back of my neck stand up like they did? I've seen plenty of foxes, badgers and deers at night while driving, fishing all night or while out hunting too. And none of them did that to me. It was almost as though I had some primal indication or warning that whatever it was I saw, was the main predator that night. Not me. I've even had a fox come within a couple feet of me when fishing at night. Made me jump when I first saw it. But I wasn't frightened. it ended up eating most of my bait too.

It just goes to show by investigating every detail place what you find out . How about a trail Camara on one of those trees as this may be a trail used frequently who knows it seemed to know where it was going for safety. Thank you Ben this is great. Hi Ben, I've been working through the TRUTH PROOF books by Paul Sinclair recently and many of the Big Cat reports he covers in his books the witness testimony have said that the Animal runs very Seal like.....not sure myself how a Feline can run like a Seal but if you look at your footage you can see Seal like resemblances in the animals movements. Not realised that until just watched the footage again. Food for thought. Amazing stuff 👍👍👍

It's got somewhat of a bear gait but I'm flummoxed. Pixel clean up could work wonders here but I really liked how you'd showed the footprints against your own hand which gave a good idea of scale. A ruler or tape measure might be a good idea to keep handy just to get an instant cm/inch reading on site. Great work from a really fascinating area.

Great video Ben. That paw print is very large, around 3-4 inches almost certainly a canine print and looks close to wolf size. As many have said here before, the creature we saw running had a very strange gait. Very bear like, which always seen to run in a diagonal form I have thought, running straight but body slightly turned left or right. I know wolves have been re introduced in the far north (Scotland) But I don't think we have seen bears in England since the 900s or earlier. Unless something has escaped from somewhere....

One hundred per cent a big cat. Black Leopard probably ( aka panther). They are tremendously powerful, and run extremely fast for a good distance. They are more common in the UK than many people realise. Generally very secretive, but occasionally encountered in a more open situation. I have seen two over the years.

Dog gait varies, check out bulldogs and greyhounds running. And they do crossbreed to produce the Mongrel variants of all between plus some. So dismissing dog has flaws. The size obviously narrows it down to Dire Wolf or Short-faced Bear. Unfortunately, no decent scale reference is available to establish if the observer opinions have any merit. The Prints are dog-like, not cat. And the blur does run a bit like a bear or possibly badger (scale not established factor). It does not run like a modern cat, and unlikely Smilodon's have survived this long in Britain without making it onto KZread and social media scientific discovery viral pedestals.

That's a dog print probably from something like a Mastiff type dog. Cat prints have what resembles an M shape on the bottom pad, the toes are more rounded and the middle toe is longer, much like our middle finger. If you line up the longer toe with the next one along with a stick it will be at a slopped angle, whereas a dog won't. 👍

Man I wasn’t expecting these 2 videos this week. And yeah whatever you saw and caught on video was something not normal. It irritates me that you guys have trouble getting firearms there. Obviously a lot of the natural predators are gone but hell between the confirmed DNA evidence of big cats and the UK government wanting to reintroduce wolves or whatever they should 100% allow you guys to protect yourself. Hell it should be like the US where its a god given right anyway but yeah. Difference in cultures I guess. I know a lot of people there who think they should be able to. Maybe one day. Either way watch your 6 in areas where they have been sighted. Chances of getting attacked are probably low but always a chance if they are there. Keep the content coming buddy

You deserve to know the truth about what you saw. Just a quick disclaimer: I am not wealthy or part of the upper classes and have in know way being involved in any hunting for sport or otherwise of any kind. I have zero social media and hate attention of any kind. KZread is the closest I come to anything even close to that world which also is something I extremely rarely feel the need to comment on. A close friend of mine, whom I actually lived with between 1997 and 1999 due to a job i took on in Manchester City centre was from an extremely wealthy family (unlike myself) his father regularly attended fox hunts between Edgeworth and Darwin very rural areas. I know that hunting activities were on occasion taking place often involving animals not native to Britain. For example a few good old boys drinking some expensive brandy and then releasing and chasing a wallabie or kangaroo with shotguns on horseback or in their discovery jeeps usually of a late evening or the dead of night. I never witnessed this though my friend at the time who was not the type to make up stories swore it had happened often speaking of his father as a despicable man for this reason. His dad at the time was probably one of the wealthiest people in the North West (at least that I knew of anyway). ...what you witnessed was a juvenile bear that was released as part of a hunt which was failed to be "dispatched" within the intended time. Probably was shot that or the following evening. I know this seems unlikely to some people that it would go on but I'm afraid that's what you witnessed. The bear was prob purchased from the previous travelling circus people that were a few towns or cities away recent to you witnessing this. This would not be the first time they have sold such animals to a certain class of people.
