david beckenbaugh Ah well, I like to pretend they escaped, but you're probably right. I hope these aren't the somewhat endangered "Orange Roughy" fish - there are a half dozen ocean food fish called "red fish" in the industry.

KurtB I was thinking they were what a lot of people call "red snapper" which is just about any red colored bottom fish.... In Washington State, we carry a device to release the fish a hundred feet down or so to help the swim bladder collapse. Sad to see the fish fall out and die, but gill nets are far worse than purse seines. And a hungry world needs to eat... Peace to you, Kurt...

Carlos T most people get mad only when they see it though. I have never seen anyone attack another person because they have cats and dogs that they feed animal products. Its not like they harvest those fish and then throw them away, people and animals have to eat. Also, it goes without saying that people should be harvesting our resources more responsibly, I'm merely commenting on the fact that first world people become uncomfortable when confronted with the truth about their food. It's a social commentary.

yeah right and people can survive without air, Adam Simjee. it's proven that fish can feel pain, they have a quite complex nerve system, these fish are first crushed in a net, then they are pulled out of there habitat, tossed on deck, stepped on and then they get sweeped of the deck like they are some sort of dirt, ohw yeah and I forgot, meanwhile they are struggling for oxygen which they can barely get from the air. It can take up to a couple of hours for some fish to die. Inhumane does not cover this it's mass murder with an utmost disregard for life, because that is what those fish are living animals. If we would treat cows and pigs like this when they go to the slaughterhouse animal protection agencies would scream out for it to end, unfortunately for the fish they do not posses a petting factor so these horrors go unnoticed by the general public. I hope you refrain yourself from stupid rants in the future that fish can't feel pain and they do not deserve our respect even when we eat them.

Good lord there won’t be any life in the oceans after seeing this !
Pause at 9:47 and at the very top left corner you'll spot a fish who almost hot through the net but is getting its eyes popped out of its skull. What a way to go.
@sammylacks4937
Жыл бұрын
It eyes are popped out not from the net but from the pressure change coming from the bottom or near the ascending up to the surface. Nearly all fish have a swim bladder along it's belly to allow neutral buoyancy. As it leaves the bottom the water pressure lessens and the gas in the bladder expands pushing outwards causing eyes to pop like you see. No it's probably not a pleasant way to end life. If that fish or any brought up from deeper water were to get out that net or thrown back for whatever reason it would helplessly flop at the surface because of expanded gas in bladder. I ve never been on a factory ship like this but did fish from my much smaller pleasure fishing center console. The fish we incidentally caught or ones not legal we had a small diameter needle that we inserted in th belly just enough to deflate the bladder and the fish returned could swim back down. This causes no harm and in a couple of days it's bladder is refilled normally. Factory ships like this and other commercial fishing ships may not appear humane and do take vast amounts of fish from the ocean but are the only economical feasible manner to feed the population. Bon appetite.

Hundreds and hundreds of birds...amazing
Finns det fisk kvar snart att hämta upp, har väldigt svårt att tro det. Sjukt!!
This type of "fishing " should be illegal, while we still have some fish left

There are billions of fish in the sea multiple people probably have been doing this on the daily for years now and still haven’t even made a dent
Problema que a maioria desses peixes voltam ao mar pôr quê não aceito no mercado
Isto é peixe demais ,dá pra abastecer o Brasil todo.

This saddens me. I know it’s food but it can’t be good emptying the sea like this

@@theeternal1766 do your part. Dont eat any fish / seafood
overfishing is only one reason our oceans are dying. This kind of fishing is against any sustainable method of living within the boundaries of this planets resources.

Oceans are dying? where did you get that from? 92% of the worlds fish stocks are fished sustainably. The other 8% are fished by nations with very poor economy's and therefore cannot spend money on protecting the stocks around their coasts. Look at the data - you will see that since the 1990's almost every stock of fish on the planet has been increasing significantly in size. Dont beleive the bullshit from the WWF and Greenpeace, they only want your dollars. their not interested in facts.
Wait for the schoolbus size bag of red fish!! Nice clean sack💰
Meu Deus que absurdo! Vai faltar peixes!
I wonder why fishing was so much better when I was younger

it's going into holding bunker and after to fish processing plant. Then gets cleaned, washed, packed and frozen.
That lucky fish popped out the last minute back to ocean
Se esses pescadores pegaram toda essa quantidade foi por mérito deles e se DEUS permitiu o porque questionar
