I am going to be starting this build tomorrow. I have never built a model quite like this one so I'm watching this video to make sure I have a good idea of what to do. 😊

Glad I could help!
Looks great. Nice job on build. But just so you know... NO American steam engine ever had "silver" on the nose (smoke box) and firebox... operationally. It actually was graphite aluminum gray (metallic gray primer). Because of the extreme Heat the black paint often pealed or bubbled off... to avoid that, they just left those areas the primer gray.

No weathering? Adding ballast inside both engine and tender makes it feel more substantial, and holds it firmly on the track which prevents wheels being derailed whenever the model is subjected to a slight waft of air or vibration. Without ballast, the wheels regularly jump off the tracks.
@FORTworkshop
Жыл бұрын
Yes, this model without weathering! May be, not yet :). Re ballast - thanks for advice! Usually I add it to plane models, next time will add something to train.

I have a question, all wheels on a tender are free spinned, no glue needed, thanks?

Correct!
hai, i really like you video, but i want to ask it's that wheels can move?
I'm building this kit at the moment. There are two parts, marked #10 on the sprue, that are not mentioned in the instructions.... Did you find out where they go?
@FORTworkshop

I assembled this model several years ago, I don't have instructions left
If it works like you can push and it will ride
Great Are there glue and paint included in the kit?
@FORTworkshop

No, no glue, no paints. It should be purchased separately.
Skala 1-87 ,czyli H0, czyli idzie postawić lokomotywę na tory od np. Piko

Tak, to jest skala kolejowa, więc można znaleźć miejsce na makiecie w skali 1:87. I hope my Polish is ok :)
How long was the Big Boy? When had this train engine been in service?

The Union Pacific Big Boy locomotives are 132 feet 9 1/4 inches long, 11 feet wide, and 16 feet 2 1/2 inches high. They also weigh over 1.2 million pounds, and when combined with their tenders, they weigh around 604 tons.The Union Pacific Big Boy is a type of simple articulated 4-8-8-4 steam locomotive manufactured by the American Locomotive Company (ALCO) between 1941 and 1944 and operated by the Union Pacific Railroad in revenue service until 1962.
Please what colour did you use to paint the Loco Body. I see you used silver and red for detail parts.

Yes, but I think with tis model it will be not so easy
Queston on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being easist and 10 being hardest what would you rate it because I'm considering getting my own
@FORTworkshop
Жыл бұрын
Actually it is not difficult model. I can rate it 3-4
Вот только масштаб его 1/87 (на коробке написано).

Do the wheels turn?
@FORTworkshop
2 ай бұрын
When the model is fully assembled, the wheels stop rotating.
Grandad and I are planning on tackling one of these in the not too distant future, is it easy to make them roll? Would be comical to see this being pushed around by something motorised on my club layout!
@FORTworkshop
10 ай бұрын
Well, actually this model is intended to stand on a shelf or on a diorama, I don’t think it will be possible to motorize it
@Hacksworth_Sidings
10 ай бұрын
@@FORTworkshopI didn’t specify motorising the model, more so making the wheels turn freely so it could be pushed around by another motorised locomotive (a similar premise to Rosebud Kitmaster’s models of the 60s) 2:25 shows you manually turning the wheels, is it easy to do that or does it require special tools?
@FORTworkshop
10 ай бұрын
All the parts that go on top of the wheels need to be glued, otherwise they will not stick, and as a result the wheels will not spin. At least I couldn't get them to spin.@@Hacksworth_Sidings
What's the extra parts for I still have parts numbers 101
@FORTworkshop
Жыл бұрын
Sometimes extra parts remain on the sprue. If there are any, they should be marked (mentoned) on sprue scheme in instruction.
Is that a super glue?
@FORTworkshop
8 ай бұрын
No, special glue for plastic should be used.
How can connect for N Scale like electric?
@liamstrains6420
2 жыл бұрын
This is just a plastic model kit. It wont actually run on a powered track. And this also 1:87 scale, which means it will work on ho scale track, not n scale.
