Played Snake Eater as a kid. Lost my mother at 16. Always held Big Boss and MGS in general in a special place in my heart. My mom was born in 63, passed away 10/24/14. When I got the Master Collection the same day as her anniversary I couldn’t help but breakdown. I just want to say I love this community and love all you fellow Soldiers without Borders, Diamond Dogs, Philanthropists, PMC, Spies, Agents and Villains. May we all find our way to Outer Heaven

*"We will forsake our countries...we will leave our motherlands behind us and become one with this earth. We have no nation, no philosophy, no ideology. We go where we're needed, fighting not for country, not for government, but for ourselves. We need no reason to fight. We fight because we are needed. We will be the deterrent for those with no other recourse. We are soldiers without borders, our purpose defined by the era we live in. We will sometimes have to sell ourselves and services. If the times demand it, we'll be revolutionaries, criminals, terrorists. And yes, we may all be headed straight to hell. But what better place for us than this? Its our only home. Our heaven and our hell. This is Outer Heaven."*

Im glad that Venom is in here as although he didn't experience everything first hand, he was forced to carry Naked's Trauma too. Every bit of pain and regret that Naked Snake had was also given to Venom. Even after finding out he was just a phantom, Venom carried on and fought for his Best friend.

yes, and it's interesting to think that Venom is actually his own character but with same memories as BB. I hate when people say that he's just a medic, yes, he is a medic, but he's also an example of how genes are nothing in comparison to pure power of will, loyalty to a cause, and free will. one of the great dilemmas of the original MGS and MGS2. he could have done anything he wanted, he could have abandoned BB and go his own way but he stayed, why? was he manipulated? I doubt it. actually more that I think about it, if Venom didn't have much reason to stay with BB, he must have had the same ideals as BB? idk if that goes against or with Kojima's idea about free will.

Same but also if you notice at 0:37 big boss snake looks similar to punished/venom snake but the opposite side. Kojima predicting MGSV in 04... the goat. I hate that people hate V its different bit still in the vein of Metal Gear games on NES kojima knew what he was doing. People say hes a hack for taking things from culture but he put such a unique take on it. He knew how to make it all connect perfectly.... actually i was wrong a out the sides i always though venom snake was on the opposite side a lil thing that of you caught it you saw but i was wrong... i wonder why or how i remembered it that way.... something about punished snake was just off i guess

Yeah but you don’t know if venom actually experienced his own very tragic life before he was a member of msf and am pretty sure every msf staff and DD staff had there own very tragic event that could surpass big boss own tragic life after all venom is an unknown character, people still remember who big boss is and began to appreciated him in mgs4 however for venom he was just another forgotten tragic soldier who swore to protect one man that lived too long to become the villain hence why he is called several times in the credits of mgsv “punished” snake which am talking about venom snake here so I would say the most tragic snake is venom.

Alguém Aleatório Also solid snake uses non lethal guns in MGS2 though...the fact that he doesn’t use them in the first game is because of the old gameplay, not the story. Big Boss is a fallen hero, Snake instead is a true hero till the end, just like the Boss.

I feel the song just encapsulates the suffering Big Boss went through so well, and this video visualizes it all so excellently. The the bit starting at 2:44 leading to the revolver duel and playing right into the guitar solo was so fucking epic, that I still get chills when I come back to this video every once in a while. The ending of MGS3 shook me to the core the first time I played it (was 12 years old at the time), just as MGS2 did when I was 9 and MGS1 when I was 8. Love these games so much. Also, this Starsailor album that this song is on, ' Love is Here ' had become one of my favorite albums over the years. Definitely worth a listen for those of you that haven't listened to their other songs.
