Thank you so much for the video. I'm 58 yrs old now, but starting at the age of 16 I had a '67 chevelle 396 4 spd (just what every rowdy 16 yr old needs) :-) then a '66 Chey II SS (327 350 hp) and then a '69 Camaro Z28 (DZ 302). At the age of 24 building a house and raising 2 boys (and putting them thru a combined 11 yrs of college) took all of my "toy money" away, but your video let me relive my "glory days". How did I survive?...don't know. :-) Thank you again! Stan in N AL
Thanks brings back memory's of my cruising days back in the 60's. Love the car. I had a 58 Chevy blown BB 572 and nothing could touch her on the streets.
@Chevelletastic The reason for the cowl is to fit the carb and intake setup, and for more air. And the car is an original Canadian car.
Nothing sounds like a badass big block Chevy.
2:12 "Woah, NSX!" Leave it to kids these days to hail an NSX while riding around in a super stock Chevelle, haha.

I thought that too. 🙄
Sweet sweet vid. A friend has a 427 69 Impala that he let me drive around one day and except for the shifting linkage being wore out from drag racing it was a very good day. brought back lots of memories and so does this video. thanks for the flash back.

Derek Ortiz sorry sis
Thanks for the ride,I love 68s.Got three in this family, they're a little more tame these days.I'v had mine 33yrs now,and have no intentions of getting rid of it anytime soon.
Wow, watching you drive that thing... takes me back to the day. I've had two '68 Chevelles. The last one looked exactly like yours on the inside. I also had a big block and four speed. 454 .030 over, 11:1, big Holley, comp cams, big port open chamber heads, and a BW ST-10. Never got to put the 4.56 gears in the rear end though. Never really had enough room to open it up with the 3.73's. I love the exhaust sound you have. Gotta talk the wife into lettin me get a new toy.
My uncle and sister And nephew all have 68 Chevelles. Can't say enough about them.Awesome Chevelle.Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Incredible sounding! thanks for posting it
You just made my Sunday evening! That's just what the doctor ordered on this snowny night in Calgary! Cheers!
Awesome car!! Gotta love them window shots!!! I call them!! Shouts out to the kid enjoying the ride!!! God Bless!!!
Love the name, 427ImportEater sounds perfect :)
@jdpiccirilli seems like youve built quite a few solid roller big blocks, havnt you? Ever heard of the ZL 1 motor? This 427 is nearly the same minus the aluminum head. That car ran 121mph in a lighter camaro, while we ran 121mph in a 3750 pound chevelle. Run the numbers
Mopar fan checking in here.... Sweet ride! Who needs a radio when you have the best kind of music playing - big block V8!
Came back and watched it again,,,I love it! Makes me want to go out to the shop and start building Badvelle III.Badvelle was the name of my Dirt track drag car back in the 80's.You can see it at I love Chevelles on facebook.Won a bunch of races with that car.
I'll check them out. It's so nice to see someone like you who can actually drive! Some of the younger kids on YT are horrible at shifting...both slow and fast.
thats what i figured!! Sounds good and louder then i remember the 40 series. Nice job on your ride!
That is one bad ass fuckin ride you have there, that thing is dieing to eat some rice!

your name just made my day
I love the window check !! i do that all the time in my chevelle. that was cool to see someone else do that on video. VERY nice chevelle. A car you should be very proud to own.
Dude that car sounds & looks awesome. I'm building a 67 & can't wait to bang gears like that!! Nice job.
I am MOPAR all the way, however I can appreciate a nice car. Sweet ride you have sir! I have a 1970 Roadrunner and I still love getting the "look"!
Very smooth sounding motor! I've put together a few bbs and sbs and let me tell you this is well made, keep up the good work and thanks for the ride just great!

really!!!! and what is a bbs and sbs?
You know it put a grin on my face just watching ! You must have one all the time !!!!
Brings back memories of the 68 I used to have even had the same steering wheel cover
Your right it was more like 90 MPH at 4500 rpm and that's a fact, I ran the car every weekend against the locals and only lost twice and one of them had to use nitro. Red lined at 6500. Again it was a factory 402, comp cam 510 lift stock Turbo 350 with b&m shift kit and 12 bolt with 373 gear 71 Chevelle.
Sweet chevelle dude, sounds amazing.
fod's biggest engine released to the public was the boss shotgun 429, but chevy had the 454. gotta love chevy. it aint a hobby.... its a way of life >:P
Wish mine was a 4 speed! People talk shit out of jealousy, keep doing what you do!
Now thats bad ass!! Love the old school!! Im working on a budget build with my daughter building up a mud truck with a 454 under the hood. Love the vid man keep up the good work!! Will sub!!
Great video! The engine has a nice sound to it!
OK, OK Already! I just got jealous of this '68 Chevelle. I had two. One was a convertible and the other a hard top. I got rid of them and have been taking medication ever since. LOL. Nice car! Good luck with it!
OMG! What a wonderful sound! Great car! I love it! You're very luckily! :)
This is such a sick car! That motor sounds bad ass!
I am about to go look at a similar car. 69 Chevelle (my dream car) with Kieth Black domed pistons and also a manual. The 427 is fresh and pushing 500+ HP. The 427 has a very distinct sound, not like other big blocks...kind of like a .44 magnum has a distinct sound! Once you hear it, you remember that sound for life!
Nice car! Can never get enough of a v8!
As were many performance oriented big blocks. GM rods and cranks from the 60s have made some serious power
Just noticed you're driving around Thunder Bay. I knew I recognized the car as well since I saw it at the drags last year. That's a nice ride you have.
I love the way that car sounds. It's the way that a car is supposed to sound. :)
BadAss Car! Ya gotta love that exhaust note!
thanks for watching, Stan. I have a few more videos up of the car as well you may want to check out
That close ratio 4 speed is what im talking bout!
LOL, I had to chuckle of the video going by the building windows. I think most motorheads, myself included, love to look at the reflection of our cars moving past windows.
Reminds me of high school friends who cruised around the valley and never left. But nice 68 Chevy.
Nice Birkenstocks Nancy
my first hot rod was a 68 chevelle 396ss. original motor was gone, built a merlin headed 427, comp mech roller, team G manifold. 4spd, 9'' rear w/4.56s after i killed the 12 bolt. it was gold w/blask top and interior. guys in the Navy with me helped a lot. i was a dumb 19 yr old. a drunk driver t-boned me in 1992, destroyed it. engine and trans are in a friends 68 nova today.
Bad ass car dude, I had a 71 Chevelle, 402 with a turbo 350 trans and 373 gears. It would run over 120 in second gear. Wish I still had it. That was the days.
Love the driving shoes
awesome video man like the mt mckay one to
I love the people saying you can't make 600hp out of a 427. There's small blocks under 400 cubic inches that make 600+hp every day.
Wow, that thing sounds awesome!!
71 Chevelle is my dream. Nice 68
Is good to know u show you kid whats TRUE American muscle! GO pops!
@427ImportEater well it sounds amazing and its a beautiful car. nothin like some old school muscle
Very nice car man!! Would love to own a 4 speed car too. Greetings from Germany
Gotta love that 4 speed with the big block!!!!!!
427 was arguably the best engine Chevrolet ever made. That thing sounds nasty! 👍🇺🇸❤️
Your car sounds phenomenal. It's nice to listen to the motor instead of the exhaust which seems to be the concentration of ... some people.
I saw 3 of these tonight on the road. One was orange, one was silver, and I think the last one was red. It's one of my favorite muscle cars.
Everyone and thier brother has a chevelle/camaro/nova but yours is different I dig it stock steering wheel, vinyl top, 4 speed and finally someone who says they're making 600 that I would actually believe
@427ImportEater cool its one hell of a car i can tell you the man good job on it
I'll tell you what I think. I think you have a badass chevelle, and it makes me wish I still had mine. :) I ALSO wish I could have seen some races with those various cars you passed. I was hoping for it each time. lol
Hey , I recognize this car as well as the background scenery , I missed you @ the car shows last year hope you got it fixed glad to finally hear that rat motor & what a sound holy smokes!!!!Maybe we can line up our 427 Chevelles for some photos this summer , mine is the bronze '71/427 with black stripes we talked @ a few car shows, see you @ The Athletic Club.
@2junkyard these emblems are actually from a 69 ss. we used them because the red stands out a bit more.
love the sound of it idling
sounds great . enjoy!
@6t9chargerse thanks for checking out the videos
Car has been mid elevens at over 121mph with street tires, street clutch, @3800lbs. This old combo went 1.67 60ft, due to a combination of a poor first gear ratio, clutch, and tune.
Cool video!
@The1984cutlass were running alot of cam in this motor, 692 lift and 320 duration solid roller, 267 @.050. The big duration and overlap helps the motor run on pump gas with 11.5:1 comp
BAD ASS VID! I like second gear as much as you do!!
great video
I LOVE your tissue dispenser
@427mc I seem to have misplaced the binder with the exact cam specs so ill leave you a message on your channel when i find it. But the heads are just GM square port nothing special. The car starts to pick up hard just over 4000 and keeps pulling all the way up to 7000 or so. At the track we set our shift like at 7000 and rev limiter at 7100 or 7200. Our best pass is 11.61 @121mph. We have the MPH but cant seem to get traction with the street tire. Hope this helps and good luck with the 427!
@kevs56chev the car does make the power. 500 at the tire on the chassis dyno so theres a smooth 600 at the crank
thanks for driving it like your suppose too.
@5BobbyDavis thanks for stopping by, it never gets old does it!
Also, our car went 11.60s with street tires, street clutch, m20, 3800lbs. So that "old saying" must be from your import crowed or something, because there were plenty of guys running a lot faster than 12.50s, even in the 60s.
well this motor has a factory block and heads, and makes around 530 to the wheels NA, so with a blower im fairly certain 600 isnt an issue. And this is what GM came out with 30 years before the 4.6 mod motor
@irish89055 your right, and the car was also built in canada in 1968
thats some deep gears bro!
Beautiful car and VERY clean engine! I love the way it looks and sounds! What mufflers are you running?
The days of small horsepower numbers. 800 plus hp cars driving every where now. Even with the AC on. Lol. But the good old Chevelle’s always look and ran like a bad ass.
I'm a Ford guy, but this is one badass Chevelle!!! lol
@Keith112377 in canada, when its warm enough to wear them, you do it, because that opportunity does not come often
Been a few years since I came back to this video to rewatch but I have no regrets this is one of my favorite driving videos. Do you still own it?
@Prowagon68 thanks for checking it out
Im gonna record that sound and wake up to it everyday!
Damn! It doesnt even look like you're squeezing the throttle that hard... NICE!!!
@chevfinatic thanks for stopping by
@tagal1991 Thanks for checking it out!
A nice cam choice, nothing like the sound of duration in a Rat, seems to really start pulling after 4000. Nice. Rowing thru the gears like the old days! Your one of 5 people in America using a Barry Grant LOL!!
Nice car, she sounds good. Soon as I come across a chevelle my 68 le mans is getting sold.
@427ImportEater Transit gearboxes are not fragile - thats why they are fitted into Transits, which are usually overloaded and abused on building sites, etc. The Transit loaded probably weighs double or treble your cars weight. Anyway, glad you are getting good use out of your old car - have a look at what I have done to my Mach 1.
Nice car bro!
Thks 4the ride c u next time!!!
Sounds good!
@jdubcbr600 its basically a race car for the street, 4.88s put us through the traps at 7000 rpm and 121 mph, right where this motor likes to be.
How would your car compare to my 81 sbc stroker Vette with 3.5 gears and solid lifter cam? I think with my lighter weight it would be a good match?
