This video was recorded on my iPhone in the evening of May 16, 2024 from the live Friends of Big Bear Valley (FOBBV) streaming broadcast. By this time the two eagles (named Jackie and Shadow), having tried their best to get their three eggs to hatch to no avail, finally abandoned the nest. Some weeks later, a relatively small bird arrived at the nest and discovered the eggs hidden under the light brush. This video shows the new arrival at the nest devouring portions of the three eggs, one peck at a time. Finally, when full, the visiting bird departs the nest leaving the rest of the eggs to future arrivals. Nature at its best.
