Thanks Drake. We lucked out and the hurricane 4, 3, 2, 1 and finally a tropical storm missed us for the most part. Lots of rain but only 30-40 knots of windy where I'm at.

Awesome channel! I’ve heard you mention several times that you’ve had success catching opelu without marking anything on sounder. Is that common for you to do? How do you decide where and how deep to blind troll? Are you able to catch opelu every time out, or do you have trouble sometimes? I’m still at the stage of learning to catch bait consistently, so I really appreciate any info, if you care to share. Mahalo

Excellent video, nice Trevally, when you hooked into that Barracuda at 60 ft, being from South Florida, the first thing I thought of was King Mackerel, haha.. I'm sure you have them there, what are they called in Hawaii..Your videos are some of the best shot and edited on You Tube, always entertaining, and leaves you wanting more... Tight Lines to you..

Haha, I thought it was a GT. It would be nice if there were kings here, they would distract me from not catching wahoo in months. As far as I know there are no king mackerel here. I appreciate your comments, it is challenging but I try to improve my editing in every episode. The content isn't always there, but catching bonita is better than nothing.

Right now in South Florida we are having a major Bonita bite..interesting, I did a search and learned that King Fish is only found in the Atlantic, but Wahoo are found in both. As they say, "you learn something new every day"...Cool..

Is Kawa Kawa the same as Black Skipjack? We used to get Black Skipjack in the Sea of Cortez. It is strong tasting and oily. It makes good stip bait but most people don't want to eat it. It looks similar with black spots below the fins.

@Frank Bayot Sometimes I keep them, I just prefer ahi to the taste of kawa. I know quite a few people who like kawa more than ahi though. What do you like to do with your kawa kawa?

@Flying Fish TV i never caught one before or any big fish. I’m a rookie at kayak fishing so it’s a whole new ballgame for me. Learning a lot from you though. I figure if I have the right tools like you, I can only blame myself for not catching. Lol. Where do you buy your supplies? I cant seem to find the clear grub with small red and blue glitter you use to catch opelu.

@Frank Bayot I go to POP marine for the hooks, grubs and red beads. I get size 6 gold limerick hooks, the grubs are minnows in the NOX color the brand is completely hooked lures. Sometimes I buy the grubs off their website. www.chlures.com/collections/minnow/products/nox-4 It takes time, first you have to learn to catch bait and after that things will slowly come together. Do you have a fish finder?

Killer videos man! How'd you get into kayak fishing? I'm 17 and I live on Oahu and I really want to start deep sea kayak fishing. I'm trying to learn as much as I can and meet some kayak anglers on island before I buy my own kayak and get out on the water.

I probably started by seeing it on youtube. There is a Hawaii kayak fishing page on facebook, you can read the posts there to start. If you have have questions feel free to ask in the comments on one of my videos and i'll respond when I have time. Other than that you could go to a kayak shop and ask about different models

What is the reason for not using a wire leader?

I only run a wire leader when targeting wahoo. On each trip I have one rigged with fluoro and one with wire.
