Honestly the whole thing with Sheldon not being supportive of Kuthrapali’s people’s magazine thing because he doesn’t think it’s a big deal because he will continue to do bigger and greater things is actually really sweet. If he was just honest about why he didn’t show enthusiasm it may come out in a weird and Sheldon way but it shows he believes in his friend.

I think Sheldon made it clear that he didn’t support Raj’s accomplishment because he didn’t think what he’d accomplished was worth acknowledging let alone celebrating. It was exactly like Leonard’s mom’s reaction to his research being him replicating someone else’s- they were thinking practically and about themselves and from that standpoint they were right, while ignoring the emotional impact the situation and their reaction to it had on the other party. So he wasn’t thinking “Raj could achieve more” he was thinking “any idiot could do this so it’s not a real achievement and not with me wasting my time.”

And indeed the people magazine thing turned out to be the only thing which Raj ever achieved....!

But thats the beauty of it. If it had been a normal person, they would have heard what happened, have empathy and not gone through with it. Sheldon heard what happened (vulcan like hearing), decided revenge was more important and wham. Horrible timing doe the character, gorgeous and spot on timing doe the audience
