Biden economist on jobs success: ‘You can’t play trickle-down games!’

President Biden’s Chair of the WH Council of Economic Advisors Jared Bernstein tells MSNBC’s Ali Velshi why the Biden-Harris Admin. investment and policies have helped created jobs in the so-called “forgotten counties” of America far more robustly than in the Trump years, a “remarkable comeback” that has stunned experts.

Specifically re: car insurance. One of the "excuses" for raising rates is more speeding and recklessness since Covid. I have seen that, dramatically! I travel a 50-mile stretch of I80 East San Francisco Bay to Fairfield quite a bit, and I expect every time, as I travel above 70 mph, to be wildly passed by at least one scary person weaving all 4 lanes. So it's a classic instance of a few bad actors screwing the rest of us. Definitely post-Covid.

An economy doesn't do well by money staying in the accounts of rich people. An economy works by the MOVEMENT of money. So what President Biden said is ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! The middle class and lower income are the breath & blood of an economy. I was do impressed when listening to Biden discuss foreign policy and global interactions, as well as the economy. Biden's eyes were alert, words clear, as were the principles he described. Through the whole discussion/speech, Biden was clear on the dollars involved, the reasons for changes. The same for the later foreign policy and global interests. It continues to be great to hear a President who knows how things work; I had flashbacks to Trump at the debate, claiming that a 10% tariff would be paid by China. It was obvious that Trump has NO CLUE how tariffs work, just as he has no clue how NATO financial allocations are determined.

Coming out of the pandemic there were two choices. Strong economic recovery with inflation or a weak recovery which would eliminate inflation but would create a recession or depression. Most economist predicted there was no way out without a recession. Trmp predicted we would have depression comparable to the Great Depression. Oil was low under Trmp because the Saudi's were committed to bankrupting the new oil fracking companies and then there was the pandemic where producers were paying people to take their oil. Trmp's tax cut for the wealthy is still contributing to the debt today. Not counting the pandemic period Trmp's national debt increase was close to twice under Biden.

The cost of Trump's golf rounds to the American taxpayer varied by round and course, but it totaled in the tens of millions of dollars. He justly played a lot at his own courses, tax payers funded the secret services room and board while there. Its a good grift. Nothing shady about it at all.

The US began pumping more oil under Biden than under any other president. While Trmp was in office the Saudi's flooded the market to get rid of the new oil fracking companies that had sprung up and then the pandemic hit. Oil producers were paying people to take oil then. The only way to real independence is by quickly switching over to renewables. Then OPEC can do what they want with little impact on the rest of the world. Inflation was from a surging economy. Your only other options would have been a recession or a depression. Much worse choices than a few inflationary years.
