The Democrats need to ignore the "optics" and pick someone who can win. We've already been through a process where some peoples' desperation to have a "first woman president" made them underestimate how poor a candidate Hilary Clinton would be. That's what gave us Trump last time. For avoidance of doubt, if Harris runs I will be desperately hoping she will win. I just don't think she will.
