Bicycle touring Kenya | Cycling through the land of the Lion King
Fortunately, we did not actually meet any lions in the land of the Lion King. But cycling through Kenya we came eye to eye with a lot of its wildlife.
After a crazy ride through Ethiopia I cycled through the North Kenyan desert to Marsabit, together with Simon. We ended up taking a long rest in Nanyuki, at the foothills of mighty Mount Kenya. Seeing that mighty peak every morning we woke up, we decided that we had to climb it. And so we went for an unforgettable 3-day hike up Mount Kenya.
Together with Simon and Caro, we cycled through Laikipia, probably the area in entire Africa with the most free roaming wildlife. We cycled among elephants, zebra, giraffe as we went onthe Kenyan backcountry roads. My journey almost came to an abrupt end there when my rear hub broke, but as if by a miracle, the only person in a 50km radius happened to have a similar bike to me and was willing to lend his wheel.
As Caro and Simon went home from Nairobi, I continued solo on my Cape to Cape cycling adventure.

What an amazing video Niels! Maybe your best yet! Your hike up Mount Kenya showed us a side of Africa that is usually not shown. Such kindness of Andrew to loan you his wheel. Love your choice of Africa by Toto while viewing the giraffes, elephants, gazelle (?), and zebras! One of my all time favorite songs, first time hearing with a view of African wildlife! Great film I was brought up in Kenya from 1 yr old till 12 lived in the highlands in Limuru have great wonderful memories of the most fantastic childhood camping in the bush surrounded by lions roaring around the tent and my fav the elephants 🐘 moved to South Africa until 22 when I came back to England in 1992 😀 looking forward to seeing the rest of your African Safari 👍

Dankjewel Peter, blij dat je weer hebt genoten van de Kenya film. Ik fiets nu een maandje of twee door Zuid Afrika en vlieg dan naar Portugal om vervolgens vanuit daar naar huis te fietsen

I have a few Kenyan friends and they have talked about how beautiful Kenya is. This video captured their passionate descriptions. Watching the camels cross the road was magnificent. I have a question: Wow, 5000 meters! I live in Flagstaff, Arizona and it at 2106 meters. Wow! How is the comfort of your Hilleberg in the climate conditions you're experiencing in Afrique? Prachtige beelden, geweldig mooie omgeving. Mijn dochter loopt in Tanzania en zal met de jaarwisseling op de top van de kilimanjaro staan. Maar ik lees dat je al in Zuid-Afrika fietst. Waar gaat je volgende fietstocht heen? Van Alaska naar Zuid-Amerika misschien?

Not really, there are so few lions left living outside national parks. And even if they are around, they will not just walk into a tent
Nice episode and good luck man! One question - is the drone allowed in Kenya? Because my friend is now cycling there and at the airport they took his drone away and said that the drone flying in Kenya is strictly prohibited. Thanks!

Officially you need to be a Kenyan resident to own a drone in Kenya. But taking a drone on an airplane is difficult is most countries in Africa
