Yes 🙌 finally someone said it. Bibbojaan never technically loved him as he was merely a source of news for her and the freedom fighters, her hurt over losing him as patron was more grieving loss of a long standing client whom she shared intimate moments with and even after she retired, Wali Mohammed could have married Bibbojaan as she was no longer a couteasan or he could have salvaged her from execution with his social standing, yet he chose not to and seeked solaced in Fareedans chamber. Flawed if you ask me.

Did Wali actually love Bibbojaan? He clearly wasn't okay with her sudden retirement, he left her farewell nearly in tears and wouldn't hear a word against her or her family even from Fareedan... his mistress after Bibbo. But then he barely visited Fareedan though he sent her payment regularly. He was also the only nawab who said boycotting Heeramandi would not be right as it had come to existence because of them. He wished the tawaifs luck, but then said he would not be a part of their fight. Quite a mysterious character, an interesting equation between him and Bibbo.. Any thoughts?

The most beautiful and heart touching thing about this movie is that despite mutual or personal disputes among them, they chose to unite themselves for the sake of the Nation. This movie played a great job in portraying how Tawaifs who were/are disregarded in every aspect of life, they made a commendable contribution in the Indian National Freedom Struggle. In the whole movie, I really liked this only character that is Bibbojaan. Aditi Rao Hydari did her best in this role.

No. It's nothing about the country. They were just trying to maintain their business as courtesan and popularity in Heeramandi. A competition between 2 groups, Mallikajaan and Fareedan. Mallikajaan was serving the Mughals only. Whereas Fareedan wanted to expand her influence over Mallikajaan. Since it was during British Colonial period, she started serving the British High Rank officers. She instigated Alam to run away from Heeramandi to her lover, to stop Mallikajaan's dance performance. And used Waheeda to collect evidence against Mallikajaan about a murder she committed to take control of Heeramandi. Clearly a courtesan politics.
