Cristina, thank you, very much, really cool video! I’ve never seen 21 in the the action, but can imagine, how was it.

Far better than most airshow videos- sharp image, good tracking, no messing about with the focus (well, very little anyway), and NO MUSIC! A fitting salute to one of the most influential aircraft of the 20th century. I saw a MiG-21 a couple of weeks ago in a museum in the middle of Oklahoma; you never know where they will turn up!

Wow, this guy is amazing! I had flew the MiG 21 for 12 years, so I can appreciate the performance what he did. Almost whole flight was with afterburner, so g-load should be 4+ to keep a performance in such small area. Really exciting! One should say, crazy Romanian, but he is realy excellent pilot. The MiG 21 was primarily designed as a stratospheric interceptor, not as a low level dogfighter, but it fulfills both roles very well. Yea, the workload of pilot was enormous, the avionics was at the level of WW II Spitfire, but the performance and maneouvrability were breathtaking. I put my hat down. Po slovensky: Tak takú ukážku MiG 21 som ešte nevidel a to som tú krásku krotil 12 rokov. Skoro celý čas letel s forsážou, stále musel ťahať aspoň 4 g, rovno neletel snáď ani sekundu. Oni sa tí Rumuni nezdajú, ale pilotné talenty im určite nechýbajú. 21-čka bola navrhovaná ako stratosférický prepadový stíhač, ale ukázalo sa, že má skvelé vlastnosti aj v dolnej atmosfére. Prístrojové vybavenie mala asi ako Spitfire z konca vojny, takže pilot sa často zapotil, ale výkon a obratnosť to skvelo vynahradili. Pamätám si, že raz som len tak "blbol" v zóne a skúsil som stúpavý výkrut 45° Začal som vo výške 500 m, rýchlosť 1000 km/h, na plnú forsáž. Nasadil uhol stúpania a pomaly dal plné krídelká. Pomaly preto, že pri prudkom hrozilo tzv. zotrvačné otáčanie. Mašinka, F-ka sa krásne roztočila, len som jemnými korekciami výškovkou dodržiaval uhol stúpania. Neviem koľko výkrutov som urobil, lebo asi po desiatom som to už nepočítal a skôr som sledoval rýchlosť, aby nepadla pod sledovaných 350 km/h. Keď sa k tomu blížila, tak som výkruty zastavil a pekne cez chrbát zase zamieril k zemi. Na vrchole som mal výšku 7000 m a to celé za asi 30 sek. ! To bolo žihadlo!

I have a question, there is another video of a mig 21 doing an aerobatic display...and the pilot held the flap in the takeoff position throughout the flight. Maybe to maneuver better at lower speeds?

I never got tired of being in Love with the MiG 21 from the Cold War days. An exemplary fighter indeed that shall forever be remembered, admired and respected by fighter pilots worldwide. May I salute the Mikoyan Gurevich aircraft cooperation for having manufactured a lasting legend. I am yet to see which contemporary MiG model will outlast the MiG 21.Cheers

That guy is good. Looping that thing at such a low altitude, impressive. And especially coming out of a loop on final, getting in landing configuration and landing, all in one maneuver. I don't think I've ever seen that, and especially in a Mig 21.

It's called a "Split-S" maneuver. The first recording of such an evasive combat maneuver ever in wartime was when a great Egyptian MiG-21 ACE pilot performed it against an Israeli Nesher during the October War of 1973 and he dissed the Israeli pilot because the Egyptian pilot performed it at such a low altitude that the Israeli was too chicken to pursue him and that's how he got away. The Israeli guy claims he shot him at the end of the maneuver but it's a complete lie. The guy is alive and well and has done several programs on that move and other great attributes to the MiG-21 in Egypt ever since that program came out on the History channel. He couldn't believe that the Israeli pilot lied about shooting him because he said there is an honor system amongst pilots even enemy ones but he wasn't surprised this honor was broken by an Israeli. Those were his exact words and he knew who it was and he called him a shameful liar. Now all the pilots are doing it at airshows after they said it can never be performed under 10,000 ft of altitude to have enough of a recovery in a MiG-21 and boy did that great Egyptian Ace pilot prove them wrong.

@@gomigman5936 Yeah, I know about split S's, I've done them many times. But not close the ground or in a jet. If I were going to do that I'd practice them at altitude, then work my way down lower until I was used to doing it low. By then it's obvious how much altitude the maneuver uses up from top to bottom.

Beautiful aircraft! I remember as a kid seeing these in Lappland (Northern Finland) we had a skiing cabin up there and there was a lot of Finnish Air Force Mig-21's stationed there.

I love this plane the legendary MiG-21.. what a shape , look and stance it has the vetaren mig 21. A great fighter born in early 60s.

I think the maiden flight of the prototype was in 1955.

Full afterburner. From start to Finnish perfect skills. The best flying display I have seen in a long time maybe ever. (MANIAC)

I think it still is an icon in the history of military aviation. Like the F-4 it is instantly recognizeable and a beauty it is, too. And how slim it looks when seen from the front, incredible! I've never seen one live in the air, unfortunately. But the maybe most impressive fact related to this aircraft is that almost 65 years after its maiden flight it STILL is in use and it STILL is a very capable aircraft. Imagine how superior it must have been in its heyday!

I was lucky enough to be at my first BIAS last year at this show, spent nearly all day there just watching the flying, but mainly for this beauty, the MiG-21, what a superb plane and even now it still gives you goose bumps hearing it and seeing it perform. Awesome fighter that was ahead of its time. Will be there again in September...I took some of my own video of the MiG-21 at this show but mine suck compared to yours lol!..nice work showing that superb fighter...multumesc frumos..superb

Definitely among the greatest fighter jets of the world. Agile, lethal, and definitely tough enuf.

Nice camera work, Keeping a jet in frame zoomed in is no ease task. Well done and thanks for the pure jet sound without music.

Die MiG - 21 ist eines der besten Kampfjets der Welt, wenn sie auch schon sehr alt ist. Ich habe sie einmal 1995 in Volkel/Holland fliegen gesehen und sie ist einfach sehr schnell und wendig, dass sie sich nicht hinter den modernen heutigen Kampfflugzeugen verstecken muss. Ich mag die MiG - 21 einfach. 😊👍

Just an awesome display, the Mig 21 was a great simple aircraft.

Brilliant display by an aircraft that has a well-deserved second life.

Beautiful machine! Very long flight with forsage. Good pilot!

Love the MIG-21. Truly a dream to fly one someday. I know you can't go full AB with the F-4Bs we had that long or you'd be free falling - out of fuel.

Что я вижу? МиГ-21 (БИС?) в замечательном техничческом состоянии (весь полет на форсаже, а учитывая некоторые моменты - там, возможно, использовался режим и ЧР)=What do I see? The MiG-21 (BIS) Is in excellent technical condition=...А также - очень хороший летчик. Уверяю вас, выполнять нисходящие части фигур на форсаже - это не просто. Причем, если не ошибаюсь, скорость сваливания у 21 - около 370 км/ч. Но на криволинейном маневре можно свалиться и на бОльшей скорости. Летчик несколько раз подходил к этому моменту и очень грамотно выполнял маневр. Браво!

What do I see? The MiG-21 (BIS) Is in excellent technical condition (the entire flight was afterburned, and given some points - it may have used the regime and the extraordinary ) ... And also a very good pilot. I assure you, performing the descending parts of the figures in the afterburner is not easy. Moreover, if I’m not mistaken, the stall speed at 21 is about 370 km / h. But in a curvilinear maneuver, you can fall at a high speed. The pilot approached this moment several times and performed the maneuver very competently. Bravo!

Love this airplane from the first time I saw it, and even more as I learned about them. Tough plane with surprisingly wide capabilities that doesn't break the bank...there's a place in every air force for such designs.

From every angle this plane is just gorgeous. That and the SU 37

Great Video! Really liked that he performed some of the display in the dirty configuration. Back in '89 Combat Jets Flying Museum of Houston, Texas brought a MiG-15, 21, Hawker Hunter, A-4 Skyhawk, T-33, F-86 and F-104 to EAA. My first experience with jet warbirds and it was wonderful. (I will never forget my Dad's astonishment when we walked out to the warbirds area and he spotted the red tail of the MiG-15. And then all the others came into view.) The Fishbed is a real hotrod and I love the sturdiness and relative simplicity of it. Don't know how I'd like the pneumatic systems though if I were a mechanic. I'd imagine it's a lot harder to find a leak versus a hydraulic setup. (Or maybe the leaking air makes finding a fault easy with your ears.)

Малый радиус действия чрезвычайно прожорлив двигатели у мигов самые косячные и по отказам! малое количество точек подвеслов… а остальном норм дешовый итд

@@borismajorov55 Ну что Вы, Борис, на форсаже он бы вышел на сверхзвук со всеми вытекающими для зрителей последствиями ! Просто видеокамера у оператора высококлассная и прозрачность воздуха отменная. Раньше такой "выхлоп" можно было наблюдать только на ночных полётах!
