The passacaglia (passacalio) in G Minor from Biagio Marini's Opus 22, published in Venice in 1655. HD video from the Voices of Music Venetian Vespers concert, December, 2013.
For his passacaglia, Marini borrowed the typical texture of a pavan and added a short introduction to create a tightly-knit, seamless texture--a clear contrast to the more dramatic variations in his solo works.

they look and act like if they are accomplishing some kinf of a duty, a mature and somewhat beautifully controlled ''sadness'' hidden in early baroque.

That's not baroque. It's a fake that Albinoni's biographer, Remo Giazotto, composed in the 1940/50s, and its musical language is quite modern. It's a beautiful piece, though, but doesn't fit in an early music repertoire.
