Ladies if you really want to make a statement. Contact the company of the products she was reviewing. Make your feelings known. You don't appreciate a non BW, who thinks poorly of your hair texture selling you products that are for your hair texture and are made by a Black Owned Business. Write them a letter and demand that she be removed from their list of influencers.

Self-hating black men AND women do this. I know a girl that refers to looser texture as “good hair”, she has a biracial child with a white man. Let’s be real, they’ll carry anti-blkness with them and will unknowingly or even knowingly project their self-hate onto their biracial child. I disagree that it spews ignorance. I imagine the reason why she said "don't take it the wrong way" is due to her knowing how some black folk over react to, and seem to get bent out of shape over almost anything, especially when it comes to hair texture...case in point with the majority of these comments, and I've seen it within my own family...so yes, I said it. Only speaking the truth. I'm "mixed", "tri-racial" , whatever...Mom is Native American, Dad is Black & Sicilian. I get what she said in this clip because I used to see some cousins who had "kinky 4c" hair and I'm glad I didn't have to go through all of what they had to do to maintain their hair. With that being said, all hair textures have their ups and downs regardless of race. I think a key element is to not put "mixed / biracial" people into the race of being black because we aren't. We are a mixture of two or more races, and if I have to check a box, I check both. If you're true to yourself, and not merely conforming to society, you shouldn't deny any race that is a part of yourself.

She doesn't hate her hair so much, that she covers it with another races hair that she bought for hundreds of dollars. Biracials were never black to begin with and most black white mixes are the result of black men (do you research) and it’s revealing the opposite of what black men claim is happening. Black men in america claim these descendants will grow up to be black as means to justify their high rate of dating outside of their race above every other race (brown, white) . Black men in America are basically whitening the black race. There’s actually studies on this, there increase of multiracial races, so the black demographic in America is not increasing it’s MULTIRACIAL that’s increasing. So everything black men claim were benefiting as a community from biracials are false. Non black women usually get the same black men black women get, they usually leave them as single mothers (do you research). Their children grow up and make countless videos on how they hated who they were (self-hate) from their self hating father. (edit: i mentioned in america because everywhere is different, not every black men thinks or behaves the way black men behave in america, yes the obsession with lighter skin tone is still a global thing and their are some black men who mimic behaviour however the rate of black men in america dating outside of the race is significantly higher than other countries, they have so much internalised hatred that actual universities in america teach people about the black male psychology and how think putting themselves besides non black women will gain the status when it usually doesn’t. the only way you can create black children is by a black father and black mother, don’t believe that interracial relationships give black children, sad that we are the only race that thinks like this)

4C appreciate post!: So I have 4C hair. I used to want hair that was silky (during my Disney teeny bopper stage watching Pocahontas and the later seasons of sister sister) but when I relaxed my hair…. I hated it. I hated how flat it was, the texture, flatironing it, how it would mess up if it was windy outside, getting relaxers and the smell (to this day makes me sick) . When I went back natural it felt so right. I felt like a whole model when the wind would blow and my hair wasn’t all in my face and didn’t mess up my style. Playing with my kinky coils pulling them down and watching them spring back, Making a style last for days with twists/plats, then take it out when I went on dates and parties (idk about y’all but there’s something about a man that appreciates the natural 🥰). The vibe was exactly what I was missing with straight hair. Then I loc’d my hair. When I tell you I have found my hair purpose with locs. ❤️ I actually love doing my hair, styling my hair, playing with my hair. It’s so healthy. After being natural so long it changed my perspective of a lot of things because what I eat affects my hair, so I drink a lot more water and less sugary drinks. When I see girls with curly or striaght hair I don’t hate, I will compliment them because that’s THEIR journey it’s not mine I was BLESSED to be born with 4C hair and take the journey I’m on. If you as a person can’t appreciate someone with 4C hair that’s a YOU problem because I know it’s magnificent!

I don't know... I would happily change my hair texture for one that is less coily. Xtra coily hair is annoying AF. I sit at about 3c/4a (that's the weave I buy for curly extensions). I'm gonna keep it 100, it's a pain in the ass. Tighter coils are less manageable. It takes more time and energy to manipulate the hair. Humidity is my enemy. It just takes more time and effort. It's like someone who can naturally maintain their body weight. They can eat whatever they want, they don't have to work out, but they maintain their weight. You can be someone who looks at a slice if cake and gains 10 pounds. You have to bust your ass at the gym and you have to constantly worry about your diet, just to maintain your weight. No one would say you hated yourself because you would prefer to maintain your weight with zero effort. If we're honest, everyone would love to not have to do anything special in order to maintain their figure. Same with hair. I love being able to wash and go. I love being able to style my hair with little effort. Tighter coils take more effort. Just detangling alone!!! Once again, it doesn't mean that there's anything inherently bad about your hair. It's just an appreciation for convenience.

Now, I don't know if the standards have changed, but I get a lot of compliments on my hair and how long and soft it is and I've become less worried about the color (I dye it unnatural colors like pink or blue but I usually leave my bangs dark brown). What I'm saying is that the beauty standards will likely change in your favor and even if it's not all the way, there will always be someone wanting what you have (even now I'm jealous of how more textured hair has such volume when mine is thick and heavy and needs special treatments to make fluffy)

Can confirm that women with all hair types have issues with their hair. 2C hair gang here and my curls are forever a knotty frizzy mess😩 I’ve actually had it chemically straightened (Japanese straightening) to tame my mane but now it’s super dry and I have to use a ton of conditioning products. I’ve spent over $1000 this year already for this and I know my roots are going grow back. Pretty high maintenance. I’m planning to to eat with the straightening and learn to care for my natural curls better 🥰

Was she not just saying that her mom has to go through more trouble and maintenance while doing her hair?? Hence her saying "don't take this the wrong way.." because I'm sure she's aware of how people could misinterpret her intent of even mentioning it. Look I'm all for exposing those who show texturism and colorism but this ain't it ya'll... there was nothing discriminative, malice, or wrong about what she said I just saw a woman who felt bad for the amount of work her mom had to put into doing her hair and an appreciation for not having to go through all the work to upkeep her own. That's what I got from it. Now what Chris Brown and countless others have said about women with thicker hair is out of line, but this? Naw, this ain't it.

I'm gonna be honest I would have just taken it as she's happy her hair doesn't take as much effort but her delivery was totally tone def. 4c or coarser hair texture does take more effort and I think that's because society still does not deem it as acceptable. I'm Jamaican and I realized this last year that even in a predominantly black country there are biases to black hair. I usually go to work with my hair out its more on the wavy/curly side at least when its shoulder length and that was fine i had bleached my hair and hated the look cause it was really damaged so i decided to cut it and when i did that i learnt i could so an afro (was not cut evenly)and it was gorgeous! i went to work and they told me i needed to put my hair up i was so upset cause i wear my hair out all the time why is it a problem now. Point is hard to appreciate something when every one else is telling you its not good enough.
