So much money splurged on some "iconic" lit fests where the focus is always either bashing India or bashing Hindu civilization. And, here we have a lit fest with minimum resources but exceptionally brilliant minds actually making us think, dig deeper into our own civilizational treasure of knowledge so that one day we can hope to see the emergence of an India that represents its own values! I am just delighted listening to these guys.

Don't forget Chetanya Mahabrabhu, Lahiri Mahashaya, Sri Aurobindo, Ramakrishna Paramhamsa, Paramhamsa Yogananda, to name some of the spiritual luminaries. An Indic renaissance cannot be complete without a strong spiritual framework. Unfortunately, the Bengali culture got hijacked by Marxism with disastrous consequences not only for Bengalis, but for the whole of India.

Amb Dar No, he (Rammohan Ray) learned 11 languages so that he could understand how the world and India works. To win you need to learn your opponent/objectives. British learned Sanskrit. They have better knowledge about Vedic culture (it's different they misuse) then we do. Now, we know how the world politics works. Now, we can proceed to face those issues.

Exceptional discourse...we hv gr8 history, civilization, culture & spirituality, economics..slowly getting drained out with a very specific agenda to an extend of state sponsored, sanskrit language is strategically removed, pythagoras becomes more relevant than vedic maths, aryabhata has no place, whereas Galileo become father of observational astronomy, hardly find any hypothesis, text of aryabhatta in this so called modern education system. India was not just economic, it's strong foundation was weakened and today also with persistent and consistent efforts by certain vested interest to demean indian civilization and spirituality... infact we are breeding a generation that doesn't hv any belief system, cultural bankruptcy, cursing own roots, follow west or middleast sabysachi mukherjee becomes sebastian mukherjee, sitaram becomes Stephen/Salim or shahjan, mohandas palanyswamy becomes Mohammed Ali palani...intellectuals say what is in the name...but fundamentally every aspect, thought prcoess start with the name... Such discourse is an eye opener for confused generations looking to be either left/right..

There are two incidents in Mahabharata where Dharmaja is taught Rajaneeti: In Sabha Parvam during Rajasooya Yaga Narada taeches Yudhistira. In Shanti Parva Bheeshma teaches Raja Neeti to Yudhishtira. Then Yudhoshtira answers Yakshaprashnas in Aranya Parvam. In all three discourses you find origins of Kautilya Neeti. It was not the first time Kautilya exposed his ideas tot the world. There were already there in Mahabharata.

1:28... Sanjeev is correct. We can see the NATURAL PROGRESSION & EVOLUTION of the society & even ethics along the continuum of time & evolution to keep up with the change in the social perceptions. It was the same Vishnu Bhagwan who came as the Avtars, & clearly indicated the course correction required FOR THAT PARTICULAR TIME... The "god" did not interfere in the natural progression of the society... only came when the society could no longer figure out howto deal with the chaos they had themselves created over the period of time by "pushing the envelope" in all areas. That is how I see the HINDU Dharma & culture of Bharat. In today's date, we will need to make the correction & adaptation based on what is needed for the advancement OF BHARAT TODAY, & NOT based on what the foreign invaders who trashed it for 1000 years tell us because it is in their vested interested...

Very interesting & informative discussions. Indians love to talk to a point where there is no Action. In history, the Muslim attacks & invasion did not believe in code of Conduct or Dharma they just killed , Looted & raped because they believed in motivating their soldiers & men by proving them the opportunity of procuring 77 Virgins providing they covert the Fakirs into Musalmans. This resulted in the creation of Pakistan partitioning the Land of Dharma. Lahore was the city of Lava & Kusha who were abandoned by their father Lord Rama. Abhijit referred to the rivalry of the Armed Forces in creation of the Strategic Command overiding the three Forces & heading the Support functions like the Space , Sattelite & Strike forces like the various Comando Forces. India presently is Transiting from the Combination of Shock & Awe Rapid deployment Surgical Stike force & the Regular Occupation Force. The Leaner & Meaner Army like the World Armies will come as the next step as there is a distinct Skill & Education bifurcation between the Officer’s IQ & those of the NCO's & Jawans or Sepoys as they were known in the British Imperial Army. The Intergration of the Armed forces first step was envisioned by the formation of the NDA at Kadakavasala in Pune. Nathan Sekhar Sydney, Australia.

No. Languages are moats. In startups, and business it is important to use moats to keep a competitive edge, otherwise the competitor has an easier time appropriating your ideas. That's why translations are, imo, a strategic mistake. Rather make the Sanskrit ecosystem more robust, and attractive to users.

What is this about security? Security is a relative baseless concept that is never ending because as long as you exist, you'll face danger. No matter what you do, as long as you're breathing dangers will always be there. If you sit for long, it will bring danger. If you walk for long it will also bring danger. So don't bring physical security and pour it on humanity in the name of righteousness. Because security is not a rigid ideology existantially, its flexible. Whatever security you bring up, it must be based under the understanding of nature of human beings entirely. Otherwise it will only affect people in a wrong way with an external facade of appearing correct. Education must be based under vedas, not societial norms or anything you guys make up as education. Human emotions and relative interest doesn't overthrow the nature of human existence. You can talk about love peace security protection all you want, existantial laws won't yeild to your prejudice. Its like staring at a wall, you can pain it whichever color you want or put glasses to see it differently. The attributes of the walls however does not change even a bit. It will be hard and rigid never the less. So whatever security law you provide for the well being. just drop it to the garbage and first focus on human nature and how to fix this. This is not a social thing, this is an existantial thing

I don't think there is any enmity between the two separate but equally relevant ideas of 'India' and 'Bharat'. People who try to create an enmity between the two and take position behind one miss the point. India does not mean modern, and Bharat traditional. Again India does not mean an externalisation of our country while Bharat remains an internalised term. 'India' has come from Sindhu. And the cradle of our civilisation was on the banks of the Sindhu. The word Sindhu itself means river. And the early forefathers of our civilisation simply called the river next to which they grew, and which was fundamental to their way of life, as simply that - the river, ie Sindhu. This eventually became the name of the river. And the people who lived near the river were also sindhus. In course of trade with the persians, they started calling the people Hindu as they couldn't pronounce Sindhu. Gradually, when the Greeks came they started calling the river Indus and the place Indica (megasthenes's writings). And over time Indica became India. Therefore both India and Hindu are closely linked with our civilisational birthplace, the Sindhu river. Denigrating India is denigrating one's own civilisation. Hence, let India and Bharat both continue without feeling any urge to assign superiority of one over the other, or selecting one and discarding the other. That would be foolish and from the point of view of our civilisational heritage and culture, suicidal.

Sanjeev Sanyal gets all his dates wrong about Sri Aurobindo's life, gives a wrong interpretation of why Manchester was chosen and not London (The man who agreed to take the responsibility of Dr. Ghose's three sons and keep them in his house just happened to live in Manchester) and much else and everyone is clapping!! He wants to talk about Sri Aurobindo's life in Sri Aurobindo Soceity as if he knew better. Sadly, he hasn't read enough to know the details of Sri Aurobindo's inner life when he arrived in 1910 and he gives his own explanation of everything. Sanyal is clever enough to know that everyone is ignorant and they will believe anything he says.
