I cannot sing any of the shlokas but I still feel proud. I think the most important thing is ability to appreciate the content and its deep meaning. Being able to sing is, of course a big bonus.

Adi Shankara is one of those “Mahapurushas” born once a millennium. Leaving home at the age of 8, walking all the way from Kerala to Kashmir in quest of the higher realms of knowledge, debating and penning philosophical treasties, musical compositions, reforming primitive customs & societal injustices, unifying the country with a common goal of humanity-all this in a life span of just 32 years, makes him a being extraordinaire!!!

Yet we don't read about him in our textbooks. History books are just filled with kings, sultans, killings giving the idea that we had a history similar to Europe, devoid of spirituality, only these feudal dramas. We have to teach our kids about the spiritual history of this land too. Shankaracharya is the heart and soul of this country and its spirituality. Only by reading about what he did, we can get out of what's happening in this country right now. We need Shankaracharya now more than his own time.

Indeed Adi Shankara is Mahapurusha. But, unfortunate to say that his teachings are not much suited to this current world except some teachings. In his teachings He stresses people to leave everything and go spiritual which is not correct to current world. He stressed more to least bother about this material life which is practically impossible. If we do like this then all the cunning people in this world will kill all good people in this world in no time. Instead the teachings like,Be in material world but at the same time do namasmaranamu. Also, His teachings says money is not important or He teaches that money is like an enemy...a total one side statement which is wrong. In this world not even an Avatar can sustain without money forget about normal persons. He does not give value to sufferings of Human beings stating it is temporary. But there are so many very nice people living a very very miserable life for no reason. If one thinks suffering is temporary then no one will help these poor good people when they suffer. So His teachings are outdated now.

​@@Sriharsh I disagree.. today's suffering for anybody is caused by his past actions.. karmaphalam. His teachings are more appropriate now as ever before. Today's worldly desires of all of us are the root cause of our miseries all around. Imagine a world of people following his advice. Health and happines is bound to prevail all around. We must have faith and pray with strong conviction, Ram rajya is bound to return.

Almost 30 years old memory of morning prayers during my Ramakrishna Mission School Days in Kolkata. Now, i am almost 40, still thinking, seems memory of just weeks back. 🙂🙂

Every house is the first school that a child attends. You don’t learnt call Maa and paa in school. Why don’t you all teach to your kids and family and trying to blame schools? I am saying this because I studied this slogam in childhood which my mother taught. I studied in a non religious school and nothing stopped to to practice this. Don’t try to bring the concept of divide and rule like the British. Ancient humans in the Indian subcontinent practiced unity in diversity. First you will divide people based on religion the the funny part will be you will divide among this religion into classes. Spread love and kindness and you will get it back.

No the Sanskrit used here is very modern and easily understandable to most Indians who have very basic exposure to the language. Vedic Sanskrit is completely different to this and even Sanskrit used is the Bhagavad gita is quite modern compared to the vedas. Sanskrit like every other language evolved with time. Languages don't come from outside, they evolve over a period of time.

This is extraordinary. I have never heard anything like this..I feel overcome with emotion like I never have before when I hear this.. it is the feeling of an ancient memory returning.. `i feel overcome with its beauty. I am not even interested in its translation.it is just to hear this is to be stopped in my tracks...I am just a westerner in London minding my own business !..

The ancient memory is the eternal souls connection with God . Through chanting His name: Govinda we can reconnect our lost relationship. This is real happiness. It has nothing to do with this body or country or culture. It is universal , it is our ancient relationship! A lost soul from Hungary

I have grown up listening to this but did not have a clue of its meaning. But after hearing this on you tube I only understood the true meaning. I am blessed.

Only by chanting daily and spreading Adi Shankaracharya message to worldwide we can pay our pranam to him .

The Supreme Brahman alone is undestructible, unchangeable, omnipresent, omnipowerful, never born and eternal etc. The entire universe is suspended inside Him, Created by Him, will merge back into Him including all the devas, then only Brahman alone will remain for billions of years. Eveything else will merge back into Brahman. Brahman will create anothr universe again including all the Devas inside Him as per His will. ........ Do you agree?

The base of Hindu philosophy written by Aadi Sankaracharya with his sishya. The consideration of his sishya very memorable. The great consideration of Guru 💕🙏

RAMACHANDRAN MANNAP Please tell me what is stopping the Govt of India from making the Bhagavad Gita & Mahabharat compulsory subjects in every school in India ? I'm a Gujarati Hindu from East Africa, settled permanently in England many years ago. Often in my chats here with my Hindu friends from India, they tell me that Sanatan Dharma or any teachings relating to Hindu scriptures is prohibited in all schools in India.....I do not understand the reason for this prohibition. Afterall, the Bhagavad Gita spoken by the Supreme Lord Krishna, is the summary of the four Vedas & the very essence of Vedic culture & religion....please explain why the Hindu ( BJP ) govt is continuing with this policy of prohibition of teaching of Sanatan Dharma which was set in motion by the Congress govt soon after India's independence.. I think this is a foolish prohibition & I'm sure it is doing immerse harm to Hindu students across India. Bhagavad Gita is fundamental & at the very core of Hindu ( Vedic) culture & tells us what our REAL IDENTITY is & what is the REAL PURPOSE of life... Bhagavad Gita tells us that we are all eternal, unborn individual spirit souls ( part & parcel of Krishna, the eternal , unborn Supersoul, Bhagavan). We are eternal servants of Krishna & we are meant to serve Him through various devotional practices ( Bhakti Yoga) as prescribed by Krishna in the Gita... Through this process of sincere, selfless Devotional Service ( Bhakti Yoga ) we, the individual souls ( jiv atma ) gradually develop a transcendental loving relationship with Lord Krishna & as a result, get ourselves transformed from material consciousness to God ( Krishna Consciousness). As we progress to higher & higher levels of pure ( unalloyed) loving relationship with Krishna, we, the individual souls, attain ( experience) the realisation that we are NOT this temporary material ,perishable body .....rather, we are unborn eternal individual spirit souls ( according to Vaishnavism branch of Hinduism) eternally engaged in a loving relationship with Krishna , Who, in turn reciprocates with His pure love for us ( His devotees). The Bhagavad Gita is very widely admired & respected in all Western countries...... Indeed, ISKCON ( also known as the Hare Krishna Movement in the West ) devotees , over the last fifty years, have distributed many millions of copies of the BHAGAVAD GITA AS IT IS ( ISKCON edition, ) in all the Western countries & Russia. It is now widely believed that the Sanatan Dharma is in ascendancy worldwide & that within the next 50 years or even earlier, it will replace ALL other religions worldwide & become the sole religion practiced by people of all races, creeds , classes globally.....
