Contentment: Means calm mind. Contentment has nothing to do with what u have and what u dont have. No one can disturb u except ursefl. Once u shift ur focus (even temporarily) from body/mind/intellect to atman (infinite happiness), the agitation ceases. Mind, by default, only looks at what u dont have, it does not look at what u have. Intellect focuses on what u have and then u r content. Sudama was pari-purana, supremely satisfied with what he had, totally content with whatever he had, he always thought of giving (when his wife asked to go and ask help to king krishna, he ssaid how can i go empty handed). On the other hand, we are always in the state of discontent, always thinking of what we dont have. We shud always be in a state of contentment (SANTUSHTA). You should be free from want (ANAPEKSHA). Whn u r content, uwill naturaly be free from want. This does not mean that u shud not aspire for more. Lets say u have a maruti car, its a small car. You can be content with tht maruti car and aspire for honda city, thats ok. But if u r discontent with maruti car, u will b diconent even with rols royce. So b content at the present mment, mind must be calm at the pesent moment. Intellect can visualise better state of being and fix a goal and work towards it. Thats fine. If u r not happy as u r, where u r, with whatever u have or dont have, if u r not happy at present moment, u will never b happy in future. So the challenge is, for eg, how to be content with present income, with whatever it is u have rt now? Equanimity/tranquil of mind is yoga, serenity of mind is yoga, while the body is engaged in action. This v never experience. What v have experienced is: on sunday morning, though we r content, we are inactive (this is tamas). On monday morning, when we r ctive, u r raring to go with activity, the mind/motivation is discontent, starting point of activity is discontent (rajas state). The satvik state is active and content (mind is calm and body is intensely active). If u cant find rest in activity, u will never find it. Whn u r riding on desire, u will be discontent. When u r rising above desire, mind will b content. When u turn ur back on desire, the object of deesire comes to u. If u chase after the desire, the object runs away from you. Mind sees deficiency, intelect sees abundance. Whne u start realizing the gifts tht u have, u will become greatful for it...there is someone who has gifted u these, u know u hv to thank someone for givin u all these precisous things, u dont know what tht power is, thehre is osme divine benovlent power that has gifted u with 100 zillion things. Whn ur heart is filled with gratitude, u cant be discontent. Now what happens is, ur attention shifts to (when u r aware of what all u hv) how can i serve? how may i serve/give/contribute to others? Thats a wondeful thing to have. The law is: give u gain, grab u loose. Attention shud shift from profiteering to offering. If u think of urself, u r discontent. If u think of others, u r content.

Jayaji, it's wonderfull what you teach.its like music if you really wish to learn & live a life of peace. What you speak will not be listened to or lived by the young . You need to put all this in a book & work with the eduction ministry to have it as a subject in schools & colleges. This education needs to start there. Thanks once again for helping me guide my everyday life. You must have read the book by Steven R Covey "the seven habits of highly effective people." ,this book is taught in many schools & colleges world over. Regards & best wishes.
