TS Kalyanaraman, Chairman, Kalyan Jewellers was born in Thrissur City to Seetharamaiyer. His family has been in business for the last 112 years. It was his grandfather, T. S. Kalyanaramaiyer who first moved away from priesthood and became a businessman. The decision to start business was taken in response to the call of one of the senior relatives of the clan, who was a Dewan to the Maharaja of Kochi, who believed ‘Enterprise and business was necessary to create job opportunities and to make India self dependent’. He also believed that ‘business should be fair with a social objective and not just for self motives’. The group still adheres to the founding principles of its forefathers and this explains the group’s firm grounding in fair business practices and ethics.

Its very difficult to liquidate Real estate these days but gold and government bonds are great for emergency fund , Real estate and stock options should be for long term not for emergency fund

Quality of education/lecturers/ teachers, regularly updated syllabus, focus on learning (not learning things by heart), focus on overall development as a person and not just writing exams and getting marks, exposure to industry experts, exposure to people from different countries, better inclusive environment (you can interact freely with the opposite sex, which is penalized in some colleges in India), ability to land jobs in different countries. It's not that our unis are bad, but they are definitely not the best, and if you can afford it, you will always strive to give your child the best opportunities.

@@alameluvechiumaya4063 Facinated with European life.. Rich r spending huge amount to show the parity with west. They r convinced to oay huge tax there. If ready to invest little less in Bharat and sincere to pay the relevant tax, country would have better. Indian educated can survive anywhere in the world but others can only there. Experience is different.
