Ok,, so my earlier comment was before I watched the entire video,,, so here’s the proper method,, first , give the chips a HLC bath on a slightly warm hot plate to remove all solder,, you will know when it’s done, when it stops bubbling but the acid will still react with a VERY small pinch (a few grains) of baking soda,, then you remove ( pour off) all HLC for reuse,, second wash, wash, wash with water until a test strip reads neutral (7)... now your ready for GOLD X solution,, do it the same as you did before,, but this time DONT USE ZINC,, you contaminate your precious metals when you use zinc,,, USE activated charcoal,,, when the charcoal is done you wash it with water a couple of times then melt,,, it’s a lot easier than your first approach,, and the solution in the video most likely still has PM’s in it,, you used way too much Nitric Acid ,, that’s why you didn’t have a immediate drop of gold when you added SMB,, so now that solution needs to go into a stock pot with pieces of copper in it to retrieve the gold that was left behind

Awesome video. If you wouldn’t mind on your next one would you film what you yourself is doing as well. It’s great to see the reactions but I the type who enjoys to see the process in its entirety. Thnx again for the demo 🥂

I thought the instructions said to use activated charcoal to precipitate the gold or precious metals,, then you just rinse it with water and melt....that way it saves from adding other unwanted metals... and cuts down on your liquid waste...I mean getting your precious metals and cutting down on waste is the entire reason for using Gold X ,, right

I remove the solder first with HCL. After rinsing with hot water several times, then process the bottoms as you do.

I suspect it's only the area around the silicon that has any gold plating, none really in the fiber. I am stockpiling this kind of waste and have decided to save some bottoms, but i am cutting most of the edges off (and therefore most of the solder) with tin snips (7 seconds per) or a bench shear (3 seconds) I just now went and prepared a 50g batch of BGA bottoms, removing 32g of fiberglass and solder- leaving 18g bottom centers.. So cutting the edges off reduces the material down to about 1/3. Thanks for further developing and sharing your techniques, B! I wonder if this tech will work on the internal parts of a camera module. Tiny, but I break down and save those too. If you can get the opportunity to refine camera guts, please do, I'm so curious and not yet a chemical refiner myself.

Basically this is just cyanide leaching, using ferrocyanide apparently. That’s why you need to control the PH so hydrogen cyanide gas doesn’t get released and poison you.
