A little late to the conversation but you have to have lots of money to be in a high enough soccer league that you can be noticed from. Other than that mls academies are free I believe.

Nothing like Japan, South Korea, or Iran, all technicality. American "soccer as you call it in your world," is absolutely pathetic.
