The experience of seeing is made up of objects and the knowing of them. There is no experience without objects. Rupert doesn't want to admit that there are objects in th experience of seeing. The evidence is clear in our everyday experience. It is true that God is not two but in God are many things. All experience is made by God, appear in God and known by God

Isaac Nyameye no, things are a creation of mind, but have no substance of their own. You might have an experience of things and for all practical purposes engage in subject-object relationships in the world, but that doesn't make it the reality.

You are right but the point I am trying to make is that we cannot say that there are no objects. The reality of any object is consciousnesss. For example, the reality of a gold ring is the gold but we cannot say there is no ring. How can we say that there are no such things like trees, computers, rocks, water, etc etc when we have them right before our nose.

@@pdigrazi that's awesome. Who said it wasn't? It's just not made out of matter is all. I mean of course you are more than welcome to trust your senses to tell you what reality is if you are into that sort of thing.

@@pdigrazi it's made out of the same stuff that your dreams are made out of when you dream at night while asleep. We've been conditioned to think that if it's not made out of matter then it's not real. Dreams are real and they really happen, but they're actually nothing but consciousness at play and they can't hurt us other than leaving us a bit mentally shaken. Just like this universe. Your curiosity will lead you to your freedom if you allow it.

  • @MattyLiam333

@@pdigrazi Quite welcome. I never pass up a chance to answer questions from a mind searching for truth. Yes yes yes yes yes and yes. All of that. Everything is made out of pure conciousness that we perceive and interpret to be a world and universe made out of matter. We were force fed a belief system that can't be and will never be proven true. Which is fine. Our one true purpose is to wake up to this fact. Takes lifetimes of curiosity to finally get to the one lifetime where enough is enough and attention on what we think is matter, just isn't enough anymore. The search for truth becomes not just curiosity, but an absolute dire necessity. So when it all comes down to it, anything that can be experienced with the mind, like your flower, your neighbor, your body, the house you live in, the entire universe is literally just pure awareness itself. Which is you. The real you. And the real me. We're all basically similar to holograms thinking we are people. The mind is our enemy until we awaken. Then we can use it, instead of letting it use us.

What a loving, patient man, this Mr Spira. The clarity. The understanding. The way he hangs on to the person who'd asked the question shows a rare love. Mr Spira's extraordinary capacity to put the unspeakable into words, point to reality and experience, to go back and forth, guiding the young man left me cheering for them both. As I myself understood, a-ha, the closing was perfect as he breaks into laughter from the unspeakable realization. Thank you for posting.

The more we try to use words to describe the indescribable, the clearer we see the failings of our concept-based language. We need to use them to convey it, but it is so difficult to choose the words. Rupert speaks so eloquently and then even he decides that the words just fall short of the experience. In some ways silence says it best, but harder to learn from silence. 😄

We can all be realized and own the Absolute Truth as ones Self. We can all liberate from suffering. No one is not good enough. We decide what we experience and how we react to it. The levek on which we choose our experiences is seen as karmic return, the effect of prior cause and it is and we absolutely chose to create whatever cause made the effect experienced now. However whatever thought to happen before now is only that, a thought. It has no reality therefore is not real. Only this moment exists. Movement isn't real. Nothing can possibly move in this moment. If one percieves movement aka time then they must be seeing 2 moments happen. There is only this moment now. Therefore only one exists and the other is a thought of a past idea of what was percieved. Movement aka time is seen thru by me.

Everything Rupert says checks out in my experience and/or logic. It's like our logic takes us right to the end of the human experience, right to the the last boundary where it has distilled everything into two possibilities which are expressed (in my mind anyway, probably others have a different perception!) as infinity or nothing, stark duality, and neither option can be understood by our finite minds, our logic has failed itself, it's a brick wall, a cul de sac, and then...a tiny door opens. Such an exciting discovery! Thank you, Rupert, you are an inspiration. One more thing, I absolutely love the questioner in this video, he is just gorgeous, don't you all just want to give him a big hug?

Oneness is an experience one goes through. It's awareness you become conscious of through experiencing it. You can't explain it until you go through it fully. It's very much like child birth, or love you can't really explain it until you go through it. You can not get a degree in Oneness you have to experience it, that is the reality. Yes, oneness is a tree but we share the same DNA as a tree. It's different levels of consciousness, yes the tree is spirit and all divine beings are spirit and apart of "All that is" But going back into the First Universal Law, states that we are all connected, We Are All One. We are all parts of a whole. That means that all humanity, all nature our Creator All that is are one. But in Essence, The Power of Oneness is Love and yes, love touches all things regardless if we are conscious about it or not?

+Noella Tetrault no offense Noella but i think that you missed the main point- there're no things or humans or DNA or... a physical universe which... as Rupert says- means multiplicity which means diversity which means forms which means objects and which require a subject to witness them. There is only the experiencing of being= the knowing of being. Life/being takes the temporary form of the mind to go out and grasp objects but when the job is done it dissolves back into itself which is felt as emptiness and fullness at the same time

Ineffable absolute reality which some people call consciousness, all, etc...as Rupert correctly say in this video is non-dual and ineffable by nature and prior to any concepts, forms or imagination. He explains this with the example of water that the color can not be added to the water but it is the water itself that paradoxically by the act-less act of 'vibration' appears as different colors, shapes and so on. That when we are seeing, we do not see things (plural), we do not perceive separate objects but ultimately speaking we just perceive. It it the process of perceiving only not perceiving 'of' anything. By perceiving the world, we are knowing it. And knowing in our human state of awareness projects or if you want emanates as the world we see, perceive and experience. Of course 'Knowing' here is different than the usual notion of knowledge as we use in our everyday language. But the question arises right here. For example, I am seeing, experiencing and perceiving... in my current relative state of awareness as a human being I interpret or perceive the knowing and outcome is the universe as we all see and define. However, even my own body and its parts included the very eyes as the main device of seeing are among the things that the eyes are perceiving! When I see a chair or a tree I can understand the act of 'perceiving' but how about when one perceive another human being? Is another human being is simply me who is 'knowing' or 'perceiving'? And I am him or her when he or she is perceiving or knowing? Also, for this to make sense, some higher reality or if you want a transcendent reality should also be in the state of 'perceiving' or 'knowing' us human beings so we could appear and exist. And there should be even another perceive that is perceiving (or knowing) that perceiver who is perceiving us ad infinitum... ! Personally I believe that the Absolute unknowable reality is simply ineffable and can not be put into the words. It does not matter how hard one tries it just can not be made effable. IT IS by its nature ineffable. Thanks,

Even the expression oneness is itself, like the word “thing“, is itself conflicting and logically flawed conceptualisation. Just like there is no-thing, oneness implicitly connotes multiplicity and diversity. Otherwise there will not be oneness. When one goes from conventional or relativity realm to the absolute and ultimate, all words, thoughts, expressions vanish. There is just the seeing, the knowing and the awareness. Or to borrow the core understanding of Hindu sages, ultimate reality is Sat Chit Ananda, Being (presence), awareness, joy (bliss)

Highest consciousness is the emptiness of knowing that the unknown is indescribable yet still understood to be where the perception is originating from. You can use many words to try to describe this Stillness, Place, Being, Knowing, Unknowing, God, Force, Truth. The list goes on.....I like to use the word truth a lot as it in someway suggest the deepest place of being to me.

If you go deeper into the physical quantum level of perception, the brain still interpenetrates with everything. Matter is energy vibrating interpenetrated (all in one,one in all)with perception matter that is vibrating in the brain. The actual process of observing connects with matter that it is perceiving. This is shown in the double slit experiment which shows the actual observation changes the matter it observes because the process is not separate. When you close your eyes you are just shutting down the vibration in the brain that is connected, however you may still feel a residual connection.(Countersign).

Advaita Vedanta skips a few Buddhist Janas to the last ones(Perception/Non perception,Nothingness, etc). The Buddha gained his insight from looking at the Bodhi tree. If you equal weight your perception to nothing, Trees signify an equanimity to nothing balance in perception from which everything manifests. Also, the all in one/one in all is represented in the fractal symmetry from leaf to branch to tree. Love trees, enjoy.

I am one with the trees may be clumsy or cliche. But there is more to this that is for us Animists to know and for Nondualists to find out. It's not simply a cliche or a clumsy expression to me.

It seems like awareness and experience form the two eternal poles of the infinite continuum of being, which employs the psyche or soul (integrated functioning of heart, mind and will) to convert each into the other.

Curious 1. Is what we call nature different from awareness. What is responsible for the existence of nature. Can you speculate where nature is derived from. Curious 2. Since I preview nature as a system of duality that constantly seeks balance, and possibly because of this balance, it is easy for me to assume that nature is ever lasting. Curious 3. What good is awareness without a mind body and object experience. What is the modus operandi of awareness all by it self. Curious 4. I feel that all the major systems, like mind, awareness, nature, and any other major system that I am not familiar with yet, all need to work as a whole. I see awareness as a special type of energy that gives rise to the other major systems. Curious 5. I confess, that I'm not clear about the nature of mind. Meaning, who the keeper of the mind is. Or, is there a mind that belongs to the body and another mind that belongs to Awareness. The precedence of all this needs to be cleared up for me. Curious 6. Perhaps there are layers upon layers of major systems that are responsible for all of our experiences. It seems when just one system is removed, everything changes temporarily. Just like a computer. Take one function away out of the finite functions it takes to operate perfectly, and the whole system goes down.

So knowing vibrates in countless currents and then thought comes in (where does it come from?) and adds meaning to some of these vibrations, hence making up the story of the universe? I do get and I don't get it at the same time.

+Mike Smith What Rupert said reminds me of what Wordsworth once said; "Science is that false secondary power by which we multiply distinctions, then deem our puny boundaries are what we perceive and not what we have created." Our way of thinking seems to divide reality into the appearance of separate objects, and science is a model of how these apparently separate things seem to relate to each other, but there is actually just awareness modulated by thought.

Darrell Hatherly I believe the ego sees these teachings as a threat to our dependence on it, which it is, so it will try to tell us we cannot 'do' this. It is your ego that feels lost, so if you can centre awareness on just being aware and allow thoughts to roll by, the lost feeling subsides. There is really nothing to 'comprehend' it's very simply paying attention to what is aware without any resistance to what happens. Try it.

Hi Rupert, In disentangling the term "Consciousness is All", as you often say:"concessions are made and are necessary", even the title of this video implies a concession , since the term "Beyond" implies a measurement. But please keep on expounding "knowingness", which is used as a map or a signpost in illuminating the terrain of reality...From my heart, with my heart, to your heart...Thanks for posting !!!

you are too fought up on the Concepts of Words... he says it multiple times, that no word can explain what he is trying to say because the very essence of Word requires Duality.

Consciousness isn't "all" as "all" implies content or measurement as well. "knowingness" implies a knower of something or subject/object, duality. There is no "terrain of reality". As Rupert said in this vid, Reality (truth) by definition is that which does not change nor can be modified. "Terrain" doesn't fit this definition. Awareness/Consciousness cannot be explained, it can only be experienced. All thoughts and words are the "concessions" Rupert refers to. They can help to remove faulty thinking and help in Awakening, but ultimately can't cause Awakening. The mind is useful in learning but must be abandoned for Awakening. As it is said, knowing about something is not Knowing it.

There is a similar story of the great zen master Hui Neng the 6th patriarch of ancient China. After his realisation, he passed by a monastery and heard some arguments. There was a flag on a pole moving and fluttering in the wind. One say it’s the flag moving. The other say no it’s the wind moving. Hui Neng resolved their dispute and said Its not the flag or wind moving, it’s your heart (mind, consciousness) moving.
