Did anyone else get chills at 13:35 with Lionel screaming and then crying on the bike? Literally moved my to tears. His intensity is like nothing I’ve ever seen

@@davidkaplan5517 Everyone reacts in their own ways to pushing their bodies that far into a really dark place. Given his emotional reactions at the finish line in many of his races, I don't think that it seems out of character for him to react that way to an ultra intense workout. No way to be completely sure....but there aren't many people in the world that can suffer as long and as hard as Lionel.

Maybe he’s not crying because of the pain but more because of the dark places some people have to take themselves mentally to reach that level of intensity.

@@chrisgilligan4968 I don’t think the behavior is out of character but he was being filmed it wasn’t organic. I think the documentary in general seemed like it was trying to be a hype video and they were sorta acting the part vs. just it speaking for itself.
Lionel dropping an “I was born ready for this” in the first 6 seconds is phenomenal….the guy means it when he says he’s willing to die on course to find his limits, cannot wait to watch, best personality in the sport, hands down.

That statement by Sanders is blatantly not true - a little hyperbole is fine in sport but silly self promoting statements like are...well silly. Lionel has a tendency to put himself up on a pedestal as somehow being tougher and braver than other athletes - he isnt.

@@fkhan98 I like watching Lionel and always hopes he does well in races and as I said a bit of hyperbole is fine - and Lionel has a sense of dignity totally lacking in Sam Long - but there comes a point when I have to say - ease up on this B'S hyperbole - this is only about sport - albeit professional sport - and Ironman is far from being the most arduous sport - 24 runners died this year in an Ultra marthon in China. And there have been Ironmans where Lionel decided he couldnt even be arsed taking in proper liquid and nutrition !! To be fair , both Lionel and Jan walked a great portion of marathons where they had difficulties and they finished which shows a great deal of respect to their sport and says a lot of good things about both of them as persons...I better stop now before I start praising them too much !!

Normally I'm not a fan of explicit language, but the passion Lionel shows in his response at 22:50 is simply inspiring! That kind of passion is remarakble.
This was such a well produced documentary and was honestly one of the best things I’ve watched
Clicked saved later to watch it on my down time tomorrow. Accidentally watched the whole thing instead.
Here I am, a new father struggling to find my motivation again to get back in shape after having gained a whopping 15lbs in a year and feeling hopeless and this came across my KZread! Damn this is motivating!

I'm in love with Lionel Sanders! His running style. The grit of his teeth on the run. Shirt half open. He's phenomenal!
23:16 I was dying laughing at Lionel’s intensity. It’s funny and motivating at the same time how competitive and intense he is lol.
Gotta say, love Sebastian! German precision engine. Incredible, how he got Lionel furious.
Lionel and Kienle are my two all-time favourites for sure. That little section of their messages to each other was awesome.
Loved this video!!! It was awesome to get more glimpses of how these amazing athletes train.
You HAVE to love Lionel! he is such a people's champion.
2nd place, Lionel, amazing. He is such a fighter. Great inspiration, Thanks so much, man.
This was super motivating, amazing documentary. thank you!
Thought this was going to be another unrealistic documentary about how triathletes train all three disciplines all day long! Started off that way but thoroughly enjoyed the the back and forth between the athletes. Triathlon certainly needs it. Good watch
That is some pretty inspirational stuff right here. Loved it!

Wow, This video is stunning!!!! Really great watching.....respect to all involved , both sides of the lens
This was such an inspirational documentary and the quality was amazing. As someone who aspires to be like any one of those athletes mentioned in the video, I really enjoyed watching this and will come back to this many more times in the future. I hope one day I can be in one of those races too.

Wow so cool. So much dedication. I love watching people trying to reach their best. Fun. I think people need to put equal effort in any accomplishment. I once won a 3k race. First ever. Thought I would feel amazing winning. I enjoyed the race, but not the win. It was pushing myself to get better that was the badge of honor. question: has anyone think of another sport to compete with triathlon? like combine, 2 hrs of football, 3 hrs of basketball & 4 hrs of tennis. then make a documentary & call it 'beyond sanity'.
Gladiators of the sport!!!!
13:07 scared the hell out of me
51:40 iT was an amazing performance in Tri Battle Royale, this guys are not human!
The way he speaks in the paint myself like an addict line makes him seem slightly unhinged
love it
A few things are for certain. The sport gets faster, new competitors will catch up with you, and regardless how strong you are the final battle usually takes place in your mind.
🎉 Shooow
Lionel Sanders Need to live and training in altitude, because all the main races are sea level, he can still do heat training in Arizona but the best gains lays on altitude training.

Just an observation...EVERY sport thinks theirs is the toughest, EVERY extreme or ultra event thinks theirs is the toughest. Which I find funny, because NONE of these sports or events are "easy". They're ALL hard, they're ALL tough.

I have many years in the triathlon business, with many 70.3 events under my belt. It is not easy, but I cringe when someone says it is the toughest sport on the planet. It is not, and there are many other people, doing equally difficult and challenging activities. I respect whatever sport you choose to do, so long as you give it your best.

What is the advantage of training on a soft gravel road with the bicycle, such as in 7:11, rather than the highway?
seeing a guy like lionel training makes you wonder what genetically went wrong with Jan Frodeno. What a prime example of an athlete. Incredible.
Does anyone know the brand of arm pads he uses on his aero bars. The LARGE ones that almost wrap around his forearms
you should get on SPRTER, it would be awesome to train with you
