As an R&B purist, I could never call this an R&B or Hip-Hop song. That’s a bizarre take to me. The only r&b element is her vocal performance.

Bey did bring some hip hop vibes in the lyrics calling herself a 'real live hoe'. Funny. Shout out for bringing out Sasha Fierce spirit into country music spreading its wings and laughing. 😂Lol

@@JoshRice-oj3os..The Scots-Irish who brought a lot of music when they arrived over here in the 1700's didn't have slaves in northern Ireland or here. I know just last week a black man claimed white people stole all music except opera from black people. As for Charley Pride he said the only radio they could pick up on the Delta of Mississippi was WSM in Nashville. He was a great country singer. I worked with a black woman in the early 70's. She didn't think he should sing country music. I told her that freedom meant he could sing anything he wanted to. I wonder what she'd say about Beyonce singing country. When I run into her I'll ask her.

I didn't like that she had to reveal as much as she did in this version or the music video. I wish the language would have been a little bit cleaner. Maybe I'd prefer the radio version, but I've grown to like the song as a whole. I'd probably give it like a 7/10 as well.

This country is not the same as Reba, Clint Black, George Strait, Trisha Yearwood. This sound is more coming from southern Louisiana. Which should not be a real surprised to anyone since Queen B bloodline traces back to that EXACT area. Now before you haters try to bring up MCC with "Down At The Twist And Shout" even that had more of a Nashville sound to it than the area MCC was talking about in that song. I will also point in this part out as well since i am coming with the receipts. This reminds me of John Mellencamp's smash hit Paper and Fire. I will already say yes John's song had that massive rock edge, but if you strip back the vocals you will hear a lot of the same instruments being used here. This is country just not Nashville country

The lyrics are repetitive until the end of the song. The only thing that sounds country is what sounds like a whip cracking. I feel like she's poking fun at country music by wearing those revealing outfits in the videos. It's crazy what parents let their children listen to and what they let them view. I think that the people who really love these country songs are die-hard Beyonce fans who would say that her songs are great even if they are not just because she's Beyonce and they love her.
