Lyrics:
How you doing honey baby
You know I don't ask for much but
For a girl spending time alone can be pretty rough
But I hear a knock on my door
You know it's yours for sure
We can't wait for the bedroom
So we just hit the floor
Is y'all alright
I don't know but I know what's happening to me girl
Is y'all alright
Uh, break it down now
Is y'all alright
I don't know but I know what's happening to me, girl
Is y'all alright
Uh, break it down now

You guys are spot on in this comment section. I’d like to add that she was also inspired greatly by the legendary Pam Grier during this era as well. From the afro to the character “Foxy Cleopatra “ to the kick and punch that she does in this video. In fact, Pam Grier did the same kick and punch in the 1970s iconic blaxploitation film “Foxy Brown”. Just take a look at the opening scene. I remember Beyonce saying that she studied Pam Grier’s work before filming this movie. Although I’m a millennial, I believe in studying the architects and pioneers in the business.

We need more funk from Beyoncé. It's one of the sub genres that she's effortless in and very organic with. Ain't no sample in this song, it's all organic...it's all soulful and a little stank. She took her influences of James Brown and the sexuality of Tina Turner and made something that was extremely underrated and overlooked for its time. Pharrell doesn't get enough credit either

Coming to this song after listening to Renaissance and noticing that “old Beyoncé”never left. She was always that rnb pop chic that experimented with different sounds from different genres and eras. Renaissance is the same ole Bey who evolved!👏🏾👑🐝
What I like about Beyoncé, is that she is versatile, in just one album she can be 10 different singers, in Lemoned each track was a different rhythm, neither one of her albums sounds like the other, All different , sad that some people can't accompanies her, and they say "I want the old Beyoncé ", I'm like ?, what is the old Beyoncé ?, she was never one, it is as if she is ahead of time, and it shows that she has great musicality.

Swore up and down she needed to stop letting her mama dress her, get a speech therapist to stop speaking "ebonics", become more polished, and etcetera... Now in 2020 it's: "she ain't never been pro-black, it's just an act for money, she's white washed" - the black people that was trying to change her from being her black southern self since 1998

@@loveislouderrrrr Yes they can, they can be racist just as much as any other members of the human race can be. There is racism in the Animal Kingdom too and don't forget that our nearest ancestor is the Orangutan [ which is 1 DNA helix away from talking, did you know that ] which is the now severely endangered of course, racism is a human thing not a "white thing", left over from a former Primate existance , human beings like to protect their own, some take it too far. Skin colour is just down to climate that's it really and calling it "white" media is wrong, because media doesn't have a colour, and there are plenty of afro-caribbean journalists that work for these media outlets you know, using the term "white washed" which is a metaphor for censorship of a persons vices, or criminal activities etc, nobody is perfect because we are all flawed, is being used now in the wrong context,. I don't agree with casting an actor solely on the basis of their skin colour for example, that makes them a token which is wrong, they need to be cast because they are the better actor to do the role.

Tina Turner influence is strong too.
One of my favorites. Love how she often paid homage to Tina thru her music 🕊️

Can't believe people just come here because of 4th Impact, if you dont like that song in beyonce's voice which is original, get out of here and go listen to their versions, thats called soul honey, nobody can do better than beyonce.

+Giovanna Ripilica Hey, it's their own opinion! No one can monopolize any comments or thoughts here, OK?!!!! WTF?! We are not bashing Beyonce! In our honest opinion, 4th Impact did justice to her song! THEY DIDN'T JUST SANG IT!

Maybe you not, but seeing some comments some people is dissing beyonce. Saying that the song is horrible and poor, the worst beyonce song, okay their opinion but if you dont like something you dont have to say right here, i came here just because of beyonce, i doesn't even know who were that 4th impact and after i saw it i think it sucks because they fuck with the soul of that song.

I remember her saying she thought about Pam Grier and Tina Turner while making this video. Job well done. This is by one of Beys underated songs. Her first album has alot of 70s feels to it. Really cool song and Video.
I can't stop staring at her thighs! And the hula-hoop scenes... DAMN!
CLASSIC Bey, I used to live for this video.
