David Marfleet warned about these 'solid clouds' in Wings Like Eagles some 30 years ago now, they've been giving pilots a fright for a long time, it does sound like you cannot take anything for granted flying in the mountains, you still have to fly the plane in hand and be ready to deal with the unexpected at all times - not what many PPL and commercial pilots have to deal with any more on your typical private and commercial fields - flying in general has come a long way over the last 100 years since the Barnstormers and the relaxed flying rules, but out there in the mountains it is about as close as it gets to those early days of powered flight!

Just wanted to say as a student pilot on the path towards a CPL not so far from PNG in Queensland Australia. Your videos are helping me with my situational awareness, airmanship and confidence in the air. Especially with tropical weather flying which will be my first job environment in the top end. Grateful for all your videos and helping us pilots become better through your professionalism. Thank you Ryan.

Our NOAA P-3 "Hurricane Hunter" research aircraft pilots were fond of using the term "cumulus granite-us" back during our operations out of Honiara (back in the dark ages of the early '90s!). Your excellent videos bring me so much pure joy (not to mention edification!) as well as opportunities to reminisce about the beautiful skies and challenging terrain of the PNG region--many thanks! Here's wishing you and yours a great (and I know *very* well-deserved) holiday!

Marine corps vet here currently shopping for a msfs setup to start the process and everytime I watch a video on this channel I get more inspiration 💯. Keep up the good work brother. I only fly kodiaks in the sim at the moment but I really gotta ditch this xbox controller so I can mimic these flights

If you plan on spending for the long-term, go with a Honeycomb Aeronautical Yoke: Alpha Flight Controls. That and a set of pedals is all you need to get a little bit of a feel.

The Asaloka Gap is a gem - in reality and in my simulation it so often provides safe access into the northern end of the Goroka Valley in cloudy conditions. The Goroka Valley always looks beautiful as you drop down into it. Thanks for the overview of the Flightspan app - it looks to be a great piece of kit. Was interesting to see the airport chart for Goroka included the identifiers for all the taxiways - I've never seen that before, as well as the location of various facillities on the airfield - fascinating. Thanks for another very informative video.

Hi Ryan, watching from New Zealand, another great video, it’s amazing the amount of information you have at your fingertips, I used to fly a Beechcraft King 200 for a few years, it had GNS1000 system on board which was good for the time but what you have now is making life easy for you on the flight deck, have a nice break

Ryan, have you considered selling your coffee table album in eBook format? I'd love to buy it but shipping to my country is very expensive, it would be so much more convenient to buy it digitally. And you wouldn't have to worry about shipping either.
