    Thank you so much for the video, madam. What to do if you have already transferred the money.. What are the steps post this to at least let the authorities get into this. How to use the laws to tackle this ?

    That's what's going on with me right now herein Edmonton. The lady said they moved to the Yukon and can't show the place and will send the keys FedEx after I send deposit. Saw the place listed for sale but still could be a scam. Also sounds like I was talking to a dif person the other day. Found her FB page but she still could take my money in cheque or money order. Think I will pass unless they come here. Funny how they would let the place sit empty instead of making a trip up here to rent it. Illegal for real estate company to give owner name but I still might tell them whats going on then they will hopefully let the owner know then let me know

    Hi! Thanks for your video, one question.. is normal that the contract be directly with the Landlord? or should be always with an real estate agent as intermediary?

  • @LivinginCanada

    @LivinginCanada

    The rental contract for renting the unit itself is between the tenant and the landlord. If you had an agreement with a real estate agent, that would just be for their services to find rentals and to detail out the commission they would get. Not a property specialist, just based on what I know. Hope that helps!

    Hello! Thanks for your video. If I sign a contract before sending the money, will I avoid fraud? Do you know how I can verify if a contract is legitimate in Canada?

    That's still not a guarantee. Personally, I prefer dealing with the landlord in person. When I arrived in Canada, I lived at a friend's place for a while and then airbnb. That gave me time to sort out my permanent living place.
