Between Worry and Misery... what does the title stand for ? While a few years ago, and still on Google Maps, the Harz was fully forested with spruce trees, the forest ... or rather the clearing ... looks different today. Between worry and misery can also refer to the weather, because from Benneckenstein it started to rain and it was difficult to hold the camera in one hand while I had to balance the umbrella in the wind with the other hand. Between worry and misery can also refer to the many raindrops that kept making it onto the camera lens. Between Sorge (literally translated: Worry) and Elend (literally translated: Misery) ... that can also mean a steam train ride between these two stations on the Trans-Harz railway line. During my journey from Eisfelder Talmühle station to Wernigerode Westerntor station on train 8904 of the Mountain Harz Narrow Gauge Railways, I spent the entire time on the platform. Narrow-gauge steam locomotive 99-7237 pulled the passenger train up to Drei Annen Hohne station, and from there steam locomotive 99-234 took over. There are few photos of the last few kilometers because a Dutch couple thought it is a catwalk and she always had to position herself in my picture.
