    Betty started in television 77 years ago. She was part of an experimental broadcast in 1939.

    Yes however shows have been airing since the 1931 and before time frame, but primarily 1931 from whenst the empire state building tv activating magic finial top guided the world of Manhattan into television. I mean no need to make it sound like some experimental first ever broadcast

    I didn't know her hair was dark. I always thought it was blonde. One of the best & longest acting women of her day. A class act!

    Robyn M - most women tend to dye their hair lighter as they get older since dark hair on women over 60 makes them look older

    She said that she noticed her hair was turning mousy gray in a way she didn’t like so she kept dying it and noticed it started to turn light and went to blonde

    Interesting note here ...... Funny how we change , we all know that later in life Betty was a huge advocate of animal rights and protection. It was a very luxe time and took many years before things had changed.

    I don't think people in the old days thought about that, it finally dawn on people that wearing furs, you had to kill the animal for the fur, maybe she educated herself later and didn't buy anymore but regardless I like how she wasn't upset when the fans pen squirted ink on her face, there's a lot of celebrities out there who would be so mad if that happened to them.
