Not exactly she can only slow him down she can’t destroy neither Prismo not the cosmic owl. The reason why she could killed the lich is the fact that the lich is an extension of Golb existence as well as every living monster that exists before time. Golb was there ruler but then Prismo’s boss come and creat the fabric of space and time

Golb's eyes really show just how much Betty is able to exert control over him in this moment. She watches him calmly but suspiciously at first. Then when she sees that Simon's in danger, they start shaking with _rage_ as she goes full-on "DON'T YOU F**KING DARE" mode.

@@seanx2350 Again, look at Golb's eyes. Isn't Golb supposed to be essentially mindless and emotionless? But that is clearly rage, and the way the eyes change upon seeing Simon in danger. It even makes this angry sound when the split up Scarab keeps trying to kill Simon. She may not have complete control, but Betty was able to seize control through strength of will for that short time.

Is it wrong to say that the emotion Golb showed here is better than a lot of acting we've seen recently?

Interesting thing to note. Scarab is easily spooked by Golb, but then tells them to stay out of the situation. It makes me feel like that Golb isn't the "boss" that Scarab, Oreo, and Prismo all share like people have been theorizing. So that begs the question, what's stronger than the literal embodiment of chaos and death?

@@RipVanWinkleJr To expand, betty's wish was to keep simon safe, and since that isn't too much of an altering wish to Golb, it was accepted. The crown does have some form of power, not above Golb, but enough to sastify wishes that don't harm Golb too much. So her wish was granted, and she fused with Golb to keep that wish safe. I don't think she is Golb and controls Golb, but rather the new form of Golb is a combination of two consciousnesses. I'd imagine that the Golbetty conscious agrees with always protecting Simon, at least in ways that could involve certain death rather than just a simple cut. In a way, Betty's wish came true, Simon is safe and she is always there to make sure of it (Until the last scene happens, but no spoilers to those who haven't seen it).

When they said Scarab was immortal, I kinda brushed it off since that really isnt special in AT. But, as we’ve seen across the show and in here, he is especially more durable than any other deathless antagonist we’ve seen (save GOLB and Hunson) and actually acts like an immortal. And despite this, even when hes clearly in danger of fates potentially worse than death (against GOLB and Orbo), he persists.

And since the Scarab serves under the Boss, his immortality given to him by the Boss is why Golb couldn't actually kill him, just break him down further and further.

I havent completely watched the series but im pretty sure Simon being protected is a reference to how Betty made the wish for Simon to aelays be protected when she sacrificed herself

She didn’t have a hard time. She was playing with him, reducing him to his most essential components and then, when all the magic layers were peeled and he reduced to a bunch of bugs, she would just crush him bug by bug. There’s a reason why before he entered the mind portal Scrabby was scared and wanted a place to hide. He realised she will, in fact, not stay out of this - and there was no hope for him to kill Simon, there was barely any hope for him to stay alive.

Regardless of whether Betty has some degree of consciousness within GOLB or if he's just carrying out an extension of her wish by protecting Simon, I have trouble believing he'd be merciful to Scarab who was repeatedly trying to kill Simon when he tetris'd the Lich on a whim moments earlier (if an embodiment of discord even has something fathomable as a thought process). This leads me to believe Scarab's immortality grants him some level of protection from GOLB's power, but underestimated how persistent GOLB would be at trying to fuck him up and realized it'd be easier to cut his losses than get malformed even worse.

Golbetty was being merciful by not just killing him, since you she may just digest him or imprison him like the lich

The thing I find crazy here is that final glance Betty/GOLB gave Scarab. Up until that point she had only broken Scarab down into mini bugs but, the tension in that final look? I really felt like Betty was going to kill Scarab next.

Oh well scarab is an immortal being so Betty can't basically kill him and can only slow him down by turning him into a red bug thing

I have a couple of theories. 1. The Scarab is immortal - this was confirmed, and it makes sense. 2. He has to be able to survive Golb in case Golb ever betrays their purpose and he has to audit them. It's literally his job to take gods down, even if that means fighting them. 3. Betty and Golb share control - Golb is in control most of the time, where as Betty can only take control to protect Simon. That would mean it was Golb who knows how to do the Tetris block thing, and Betty only knows/is only able to do this. 4. Betty simply didn't care enough to finish him off, only caring enough to break him down so that he couldn't kill Simon. After it became clear that the Scarab was after FionnaWorld and not Simon, she stopped needing to target him. That's all of my ideas anyway
