That’s so smart! I have an old car with old Nav system. It doesn’t have CarPlay but the older DVD system. (I dislike it). With your solution I can us connect my iPad to my cell, the use Apple Maps. Simple and Ingenious. Thank you 🙏 Pia

In my experience, anything that uses a 3m type sticky mount will give out in hot humid climates. Ive had 2 types fail.

That's because there is constant downward force being put on the tape. You will need a 3rd magnet in the bottom middle or bottom corners of the ipad to reduce the force and prevent 3m failure.

Who doesn't have Hot Spot on their phone? I have my iPad mounted to my dashboard and use Hot Spot all the time for internet.

Dumb question. How does the gps work on just an iPad? I assume you need a data connection via SIM card through your cell provider? Or do you just use your phone as a hotspot ?

Hi Pico, good question and I should’ve mentioned it in this video actually. You do need the cellular version of the iPad for the GPS. The non cellular version doesn’t come with a GPS module, so even if you connect it to a hotspot, it wont have GPS capabilities.

Just need to know that this isn’t great, heat from windshield will force the iPad to be stuck on cool-down, and when you want the heater on it’ll also do the same if it faces the iPad. Also plugging and unplugging! It looks nice though.

Hi Cody, sorry this didn't worked out for you. This is our second winter using this in our car and we absolutely love it still. You do have to plug it indeed if your iPad or tablet needs a charge, for the most part our iPads are charged when we use this so we rarely need to charge our iPad. It's a cheap £8.99 accessories that have made our family car feel more modern.

I wish there was a way of doing it without having to stick extra ugly magnets on the ipad though. There are enough magnets already built in to the ipad so im suprised noone has come out with a way to do it yet!

Use a folio case and stick it onto the case instead. Leave the folio permanently in the car/magnets or leave the folio case on your ipad.

Honestly this is a great concept but I have to ask, doesn't the iPad wobbles or even fall when passing through potholes cause I'm gonna be honest in India there are a lot on the road.

Thank you. Hehe I completely understand what you mean as the roads are similar in the Philippines. It has a pretty strong magnet and I haven’t experienced our iPads wobble or fall. Even though we haven’t tried this in the Philippines, I can see this specific magnetic car mount being reliable despite the bumps and humps and I probably would just take my iPad off of the dashboard to be sure if it’s a long road with lots of potholes.

Yup! We still use it to this day. We’ve not had any issues with ours ☺️.

Requires cellular version of iPad. There, saved you some time.

Hopefully someone already mentioned that it is not such a good idea to place a tablet / phone or similar between the car's airbag and your face...

Attaching anything to the airbag flap on the passenger side dashboard and having a crash is going to hurt. Airbags inflate at 30 milliseconds. That iPad would hit your face like a bullet.

Fixing the holders on the cover of the passenger airbag is a very very stupid idea. In case of an accident with a crash of only less than 30 km/h ap 18 miles the airbag will operate and with the speed the airbag will open the iPad should kill you instead of being unhurt.
