Interestingly I also have the Focal Utopia, HD800s and this Yamaha 5000SE. To me the Yamaha with leather is the best of the lot. Very clear, transparent, detailed, accurate sound stage, with balanced bass. Sound stage not as wide as HD800s, but sufficient, balanced.

No such thing as an end game anything. I just procured the Focal Utopia (2022). Great headphones. Then I sampled the Final Audio D8000 and the Hifiman Susvara together with my Focal’s on someone’s killer kit with Holo DAC, Holo amp and a Woo Audio high-end tube amp. Now I want all three. Maybe this one too.

Yes i test the HA-L7A at the High-End Munich a little bit.

Hm…the noise of the cable when moving your head to me looks like a design flaw that Yamaha really needs to fix. i am using RME audio interfaces in my studio. Neutrality (and stability) describes them best. Hence I am surprised you mention some coloring after latest upgrades for the ADI 2 ? Note I dont have the ADI DAC so can‘t compare.

Yes the RME ADI2 DAC it's always been neutral on the bottom end, specialy compare it with Phontor XE and other amps, but i am sure something changed, i can hear this and i can see it in the frequency response, no idea!

with big soundstage, the centre imaging can't be as pinpoint unless your amp can play with crossfeed
