Blobs happen when you over pump and introduce air into the chamber. Pumping it by tapping over and over on the paper introduces the air. Just hold it down for a brief moment and let the capillary action to the rest. If you have air in the chamber, turn the pen up (tip facing ceiling), using the back of the cap gently press the tip down, hold for a brief moment to let the air out. Don't assume when you pick up the pen you have to pump it, often it's still primed, especially for those that store the pens horizontally. There are colours I have not used in many weeks and they are still juicy when I pick them up again. One big advantage of Posca pens over brands like Arrtx, is you can find them open stock in many places to replaces colours vs buying entire set each time.

Thank you. I will give that a try. The white pens are troublesome in my opinion compared to the coloured pens. I have two white pens that have completely stopped working and they are not out of ink.

Thank you for this comparison Nina, I have had a set of Posca pens for a few years now and I can honestly say I cannot stand them! The white is a nightmare and more paint is wasted in the blobs than on any drawing! I must say that the ones you are using seem far superior to the Poscas and I would definitely consider them if I needed to buy some. xxx

Thanks Nina. I am going to try these. I also have had negative experiences with Posca paints..blobs, dried nibs, and they empty very quickly.

I just ordered this set of acrylic markers. I do,love my Poska, however, since I wanted fine points, this set seems to be very nice, plus, I won’t have to pump. This is definitely going to give Poska a run for their money. Even if not, I will enjoy my set very much. Thanks, Nina.

Hello nina, I don"t have acrylic markers, but if I am ever going to purchase them, your information is very usefull. I would go for the arrtex ones. Loved the colours and not having to pump, so no blobs....the choise is made. Guess what...hardly any wind today and the sun was shining, so nice. Hope you have seen some sun too. So happy to have stumbled upon this video today, as Amazon had the markers at the lowest price they’ve had all month! Thanks for the recommendation! Undoubtedly, you’ve saved me some money otherwise spent on Posca pens! As for the white paint, I’ve resorted to using the corner of a large chisel tip white Posca b/c the finer ones were so temperamental.

Thank you Nina for this review. I ordered them after your Sunday video, but living in Switzerland makes orders from amazon USA impossible! They will go to my daughter in Germany, and she has to send them to me, which is quite expensive! So I will get them eventually. I always thought, that my problems with the poscas was, because I do not use the correctly. I am relieved to hear, that I am not alone. I learned the hard way, that gel pens are reactive to water. I applied a coat of varnish and all my doodling was flowing around and smearing my whole design! Wish you a beautiful and creative day.( I hope you survived the recent storm without injuries and damage to your house and garden!)

Hello Barbara, have you ever tried ordering from Amazon UK? I don’t know if they deliver to Switzerland. What a shame your doodling was ruined by adding varnish to your work. I have to say I think most of have been there and learned the hard way with gel pens too. The storms have been relentless here, and the winds have picked up yet again and we are waiting for storm Gladys to hit us next! We have a problem with flooding in our area as well due to all the rain we’ve had. Glad to say we have not experienced any damage to our property. It is time for me to purchase a new set of acrylic pens. Most of my Poscas have dried up. I do hate the pumping and the occasional blobs, so I am definitely considering getting a set of Arrtex. Thanks for the review!

I bought these after seeing your sunflower video and received them yesterday. I’ve already tried them out and love them, like you just wish the white had more pigment. Otherwise I think these are a great cheaper alternative to Posca and I didn’t think I would ever say that because I’m a big Posca fan… thank you x

Thanks ever so much for doing this review, they look 'hands down' much better than the Posca's, well apart from the white which tbh looks even more washy than the Posca. I shall be checking them out on Amazon. My white Posca is the same as yours, always blobby, never opaque and they seem to pill up the paper too. Did that happen with the Arrtx ones at all. Tfs xo

I didn’t notice any sign of pilling, but I was only swatching. They feel very smooth to apply compared to Posca’s, especially the brush end of the pen. I hope that helps xo

I did buy some after seeing your video, Nina and I bought the pack of 16 just to see what they were like. My verdict is positive too. I think they are superior to Posca because of having to pump the nibs of the Poscas and then ending up with a messy blob. I have used Posca pens for some years and they are ok but I prefer the Arrtx ones. Your videos, both on Sunday and this one were very useful to me, so many thanks!

I bought a set of these after seeing your video and I must say that I am pleased. My thoughts: The colours are nice, and they flow VERY easily. There are some very nice colours. I am glad I bought them. That being said, there are a few colours that aren't as opaque as the Posca Pens, specifically the white and some of the pastel colours. If I need something that opaque I will still use Posca pens for that. I also like some of the very thick Posca Pens for some things. Overall I am very glad I bought them so far and will see how long they last and if they still work as well in a couple of weeks. They were reasonable in price and will help me make some interesting marks on my printed papers and do some colouring. Thank you for your review. 🙂

I ferl the issues you are having with the Posca pens are just the way you are using them. I have a dozen, different nib sizes. You pump them to get the paint down before the first use, then just occasionally afterwards as needed. If you store them horizontally then they are fine. If you are storing them upright, then you would need to re-prime the nib. Thanks for sharing though.🙃

I keep all of them horizontally in a drawer. The coloured ones are not too bad, but the white ones are always problematic and either puddle, or don’t work at all 😕

I have never tried the Arteza ones. I do believe they are pump action like the Posca ones.

I too hate the pump action of the Posca pens, I find them very inconsistent and scratchy. I like them for some things but I think the Arrtex ones are much more useful based on what you demonstrated! Thanks for the review!💕🇨🇦

You shouldn't pump them all the time as it was done in the video. And especially not as quickly.

Thanks for your video. I do know that you are supposed to keep Posca pens horizontal (so not in a jar) they also need a shake to mix the fluid. 🙂

I think they are only available online. I find the Gelli Roll pen very pigmented, but it can’t be used with wet media on top.

I always have problems with bleeding Posca pens. You're not alone.

I was just rearranging my Posca's and I think I have a solution for your white - You are using a "1MR" and I think you'd be much happier with a "1M." It's like a 2nd generation extra fine tip version. Hope this helps!

Was always a fan of poscas but if you don’t use them regularly they just dry up. Some colours are worse than others. I agree with you on the white ones, they are not great. These Artex ones look really good xx

You should try the Uchida Premium Prime Premio pen in gold. It is fantastic. The most beautiful gold, and works like a charm every time. It’s oil based xx

Acrylic- no matter the form- isn’t going to reactivate- it’s acrylic. It’s quite permanent whether tube, bottle, pen or marker.

P.S. You think a white Posca pen is troublesome ... try the Gold Pentouch by Sakura. It may be one of the best looking gold pens I have ever used, but .... ach, it can be a mess!

The best gold pen in my opinion is the Uchida Decolor Premium Prime Premio. It is the most gorgeous glossy gold and works like a charm every time.

These don't need pumping that's the magic with them, you can also use water with them so they look like gouche

Thanks Valerie, someone has suggested pumping just once as apparently it creates an air pocket which results in the blobs happening. I have just tried it, but mine then doesn’t work at all.

I avoid the pump action pens. I’ve never had any luck with them.

It must have something to do with the consistency of the paint as some are better than others.

Do not buy these. I had them for a year, did one actual artwork and doodles with them, gently, correctly packaged them after use but they completely dried out...
