    I have to applaud that ebikes are appearing on motorcycle media, where they should have been from the start.

    As a bicyclist who got old I bought a Trek E-bike so I could keep up with my son. You still work your butt off riding it, you just go farther/faster. Also, as a lifetime motorcyclist, I have a GS with all the “gee-whiz” electronics in hopes of it catching a rider error & keeping me upright. If I were a purist, I would have neither😊

    One thing that Adam mentioned that everyone should pay attention to - is that he and his friend were up on a trail most likely on a weekday, and had it to themselves. This is what makes E biking pure bliss.

    I love my ebikes. Got me back into cycling. I must have over 32k miles on pedal bikes. My eMTB is a simpler Fuji 27.5" wheeled hardtail and my wife and I share riding on a fat tire ebike. While I like the expensive premium ebikes better, my riding has toned down enough that I don't need a hardcore ride. The expensive bikes have a very refined ride that float nicely and feel like a normal bike and makes you feel like you have just extra powerful legs.

    I’m glad you guys are reviewing e bikes because although I am a huge fan of motorcycles, it’s difficult for me to own one because I live in apartments and although I could pay for additional parking, I like “efficiency aspect” of motorcycles, so I have been looking at e bikes a lot more because I can put them inside.

    Check out e-dirt bikes like the Surron and Talaria. My Surron is about 123 lbs with the battery, and I just wheel it into my 1-bedroom apartment. I have a Honda Grom that I park in the carport, but the Surron is honestly more fun a capable that I hardly ride the Grom anymore.

    From these comments, I have to say that your motorcycles and your masculinity being threatened is in your imagination, my motorcycles coexist just fine with my ebikes. If you don’t want one don’t buy one. Just not a big deal. Ebikes are very cool and so are motorcycles. Also, it’s not that E bikes are super expensive it’s that some motorcycles are very inexpensive. for the price of an Indian or Harley high-end bike, or a GW, you can buy this E bike, a dirtbike, a smaller displacement motorcycle and a truck to haul it all.

    So much more fun than sitting on your ass and twisting a throttle. No deafening braaaaap and trail destroying dirt roosts, registration, insurance or stinky fuel just quiet, single track slaying fun, and you can even talk to your buddies over the peaceful whir of the electric motor. When you drop it, just pick it up with one hand and go again. You're not gonna get pinned under it because it ain't 200kgs.. 😅 Seriously, I've owned moto and got bored pretty quickly of the restrictions on where you can ride. Pretty much just dirt or sand roads here in South Australia.. But with the eMTB, I can ride anywhere, any road, any track... And I'm getting a decent workout while taking in peaceful scenery and mother nature. Do yourself a favour. 😉👍

    The more they push these electric things the harder I resist them. So this is a motorbike with pedals? I guess this is the future for motorbikes, once they go all electric you will need pedals on them for when the battery runs out after an hour or so.....

    At their current prices, absolutely. Just to convert a regular bicycle with quality parts is $1000 or more, easily. Unless you're limited to a bicycle as primary transportation, it just doesn't make sense for what is essentially a toy.

    @@jasper_of_puppets that's true... But I see more value in a proper motorcycle than an e-bike. Nonetheless, they still have the same limitations as all electric vehicles, limited range and extended recharge times. The downsides of current battery technology.

  • @jasper_of_puppets

    @jasper_of_puppets

    Жыл бұрын

    @@jasonjulian1 I think this was a clickbaity title, as an eMTB and motorcycle are two entirely different categories of bike and use. But yeah, it all boils down to what each individual values. I told myself I'd never spend more on a (e)bicycle than a motorcycle, but I mountain bike a lot more often than I motorcycle these days. Honestly, the e-bike was one of the best purchases I've ever made.
