I really loved this man's story and seeing his farm! You can bet these fish are getting the best care they possibly can. He's got it down - the trick is to do water changes (prevent ammonia spike, but tannins - which turns the water brown - are great to have for your betta). This would mitigate the need for a filter. And of course, in a country with a stable high temperature like Vietnam there is no need for heaters ;) (Also, when you keep the bottles this close to eachother, there is a buffering capacity that will stabilize water temperatures when there is a change in outside temperature). But let's all also appreciate all the other efforts he does for their care: checking them manually day by day (himself!), protecting them when he is not near (covers), he knows every single fish and what happens to them, he provides bigger tanks for bigger fish and for breeding (going up to 5L for a betta that is at the right size to transfer, which is over 1 gal). I am truly amazed with his passion and care, and hope all of his dreams will come true.

DarkLemon these containers are temporary. all betta fish breeders have the same set up, give or take. especially larger betta fish breeders that can’t possibly have 2.5 gallon tanks for each and every one of their fry. these aren’t their permanent homes of course, as they will be sold. as you can see in the video, all betta fish were healthy, active, flaring, brightly colored, and undoubtedly living in WAY better conditions in countries such as the U.S., as you’ll see a lot of sick or already dead betta fish in cups in chain pet stores or LPS in general. The difference between housing a betta in a small container over in Vietnam (or countries around that part of Asia) and somewhere like the U.S., is drastically different. Like the original comment stated, it’s all about daily water changes. The breeder, as you can clearly tell, is very passionate about his betta fish and checks up on them while cleaning their containers daily. While other here in the states, most people are ignorant on how to care for betta fish. Of course, i ABSOLUTELY do not ever think small containers should be permanent homes for bettas. the breeder in this video is doing absolutely everything right and his hard work is shown as the betta fish are stunning.

These fish are probably cared for better than the suppliers of pet shop bettas in the US and UK, they certainly look in better condition than the ones I've seen in pet shops. Remember this is a commercial animal breeding facility and not someone keeping a few betta fish as pets.

Oh wow, you made my day. I do have some these bettafish at home due I felt sorry for them afraid they live in tiny Cubs too long very uncomfortable for them at my friends store in America. They're very low maintenance, they can live temperature at low 55 degree F in few months winter in America here, amazing. They're very smart n have feelings like human too that give them credit for as just robots, no sad, love, hurt, happy, nor missing, grateful etc... they happy to see me in thought they just look for food, but when drop food, they didn't care n keep waving me then go back sleeping, rest due I tap container or check out see they ok at night n cold, then they waved at me then keep sleeping, very touching to show they appreciate care about them. Hope they keep in these tiny cubs in few months for raising n sell, not too long very uncomfortable for them.

I definitely agreed when he said giving the fish everything will cause more problems. I mean sure, it's good. Filters and heaters. You're giving the fish the "best" health possible but it won't be able to develop resistant against sickness.

I like the video and wish this breeder the best of luck. But I think his idea of making fish resistant to disease by not providing a good environment is just bs. In a tropical country, with a good, biologically stable water source, with fish that can breath air and are evolve to live in small, dirty ponds (like bettas), yes, you can get away with it. But even these bettas aren't immune to high ammonia concentrations, so if you have a bigger tank, and tap water, you better have a filter that provides stability.

Like someone else mentioned he keeps the water clean. However he is right about the importance of building immunity. I was reading a website the other day with old school Guppy breeders talking about the problem of some breeders these days not building immunity in their fish resulting in fish that die the moment an illness sets in or if they survive are constantly medicated due to how fragile they are. It's not just fish either. In my country there's concern about an increase in illnesses due to people doing the same with their children. There's nothing wrong with wanting the best for your animal or child or whatever your looking after but keep in mind that having the environment too clean is the same as having an environment too dirty with different bad results. It's best to have it clean enough that it's healthy but allow some exposure so they develop immunity. A fish with good immunity will handle better if an illness hits than a fish with no immunity.

It's pleased to see the video. Can you make more videos on betta fishes and the farms' process for breeding? Love from India. We usually won't get to see the betta farms in Vietnam.
