The Muslim community has great numbers on the Cape Flats but still the minority. Even in our so called Muslim communities we are not the majority. For every 1 Muslim vote there, there were 9 non Muslim votes against. The fact that we don't have central politcal leadership amongst the Muslims, caused our vote to be scattered and thus not seen. But I'm sure that majority of our Muslim voters did not vote for the Devil Advocates (DA).

Asalamu Alaikum, I think you should not generalise but rather be specific. The kufaar is the majority in Cape Town ,its problable a few Muslims who voted for the DA. But I firmly trust and believe that the majority of the Muslims haven't voted for the DA. The Islamic organizations made more than enough to educate the Muslim community, eg, Sh Ihsan Talip gave a beautiful jumua last week at Bellville masjid outlining the principles of the Shariah and who should we vote for. And Allah knows best.

The ulema are really doing the Muslim ummah a disservice. We are encouraged to participate in democracy, which is totally against Islam, and expect success. Democracy is anti religion so how can we be happy with it? We as Muslims have been able to practice our deen in South Africa freely, even during apartheid so what are we voting for?

I loved this khutba. Moulana Waseem it took a lot of courage to speak so openly. Like you it was hard for me to make my X next to the green, white and black but they are the only party who spoke up for the Palestinians people. There is a Surah dedicated to this. Surah Munafiqun. Also Surah Al Imran verse 103 And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. And remember the favor of Allah upon you - when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together and you became, by His favor, brothers. And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you may be guided.

The majority of Muslims in the Western Cape who came out in support of Palestine are sincere, uprighteous & practicing Muslims who bravely came out in their THOUSANDS in support for the Palestinian people. The VAST MAJORITY would have voted for & is split amongst the pro- Palestinian parties. They would've definitely NOT VOTED for any pro-Israeli party in the Western Cape. Like comments made, the Muslims down here only make up about 10% of the electorate. The concerns of vote rigging in predominantly Muslim districts are looming heavily over our heads. Also the DA enjoys the popular support of the majority of whites & has made major in-roads amongst the blacks & coloured non- Muslim communities. Their percentage performance in this election is really not much different than the previous one. The Western Cape has always been DA area. The ulema of the Cape has done a TREMENDOUS JOB in conscientizing the Muslim population of the Western Cape,... from the mimbars & platforms at rallies who to vote for in their support for the people of Gaza.They tried their utmost to convince the handful of DA Muslim members & their supporters to see otherwise... but this is a democracy & we have to be TOLERANT of opposing views. That's the only way to ensure Harmony & Peace in our area. I am proud to be counted amongst the vast majority of the Muslims of the Western Cape who casted their votes in favor of the Pro-Palestinian parties & the ANC. Whatever the outcomes of this election, whether the ruling party was shaken a bit, I believe it was for the greater good. Whether a re-count of the election results or not, it won't make much of a difference. The future of South African politics lies in coalitions which is better for service delivery & accountability.

We as Muslim indians don't protest for al aqsa, but we still vote for ANC, but Capetown made a big hoo haa about Palestine and yet they still support the DA. What foolishness? Shows that imaan must not only be on the tongue, but also in the heart. There is more fitnah in the protest, than there is good!!!. Our Ulema in Gauteng, etc, advised us to not go for protest, etc. Instead make duaa and cry for them, for Allah is the one who controls everything, not the government.

With due respect Maulana, you were undoubtedly a bit hasty (Driven emotion rather that facts?) accusing Muslim voters of BETRAYAL given by Friday, 31 May 2024 when you delivered your lecture, the final result of the election was still pending. Only by Monday, 3 June 2024 did we get the factual position as to where the Muslim vote went especially in the Muslim dominated areas and clearly not for the likes of the DA and PA in particular. As a Muslim Scholar, it places a further more stringent onus of you to first avail yourself with fact before letting your emotion get the better of you. Please accept my above views/ position as nothing more than constructive criticism .

The irony is that there wasn’t only an option of 2 parties. They didn’t have to vote DA or ANC. Rise Mzanzi was a better group that should have been given a chance. Don't despair brothers and sisters. Allah will judge them. He has already placed a seal on their hearts. The Palestinians appreciate our support and acknowledgment. But they are doing this out of their conviction to Islam. The ulema in SA should disband because if they did what they ought to do, we would have a community of believers who had imraan, taqwa and aqlaaq. Like any other enterprise, performance is measured against a standard. What is their standard I ask you?
