    I remember my first solo. As soon as I came off the ground I thought to myself, "oh crap, I'm gonna have to put this thing back on the ground by myself in a minute." Loved every second. Good job Beth.

    You don't have to be especially wealthy to fly. I paid my Lessons with my meagre apprentice salary. Took me 2 years, but it worked. That was 20 years ago and I'm still flying :-) But still not rich...

    At $120/hr wet, just for the aircraft rental... yeah. That's considered rich by a lot of people. Particularly those who are struggling to put food on the table every week.

    "Holy shit, I'm flying an airplane on my own." lol. Yeah, even after all these years, I still get that feeling once in awhile. I still find it amazing that we can take a big steel machine, take it up in the sky and be among the clouds. I hope I never lose that love of flying. Nor should you.

    Exactly. Airplanes and the ability to fly are nothing short of a miracle. Kings and powerful men through history did not have this gift that many of us now take for granted. I always think of the Right Brothers and their vision every time I see or ride a plane.

    Nothing comes close to that first solo experience. I recall mine back in 1980 in a PA38. And yes, it did feel so much lighter. Thanks for sharing Beth, great to be reminded of my flying days. Wishing you many safe and enjoyable flights :-)

    I spilled cocacola on the control panel and I had to jump on parachutes, luckily the plane was not mine and fell on the house of a neighbor who did not seem good person 😁

    Well done Beth👍🏽 Happy memories of my first solo flight from Laurel Airport, Delaware, USA in 1972. Your comment about the lightness of the aircraft made me smile. My extremely overweight instructor had just hopped out and suddenly it felt flying a kite that just wanted to go up and up and up. Best wishes. Jeff

    She says what I wish I could have articulated on my first solo, if I wasn't a combination of deer in headlights and mad scientist trying to think three steps ahead. Definitely the most methodical flight of my life, I was still pretty tensed when I started the drive home! I notice when she says it she's looking over. That's when it hit me, that empty seat.

    Really enjoyed this, thank you. I had the true honour to do a bit of flying (not take off and landing) in a 1968 Piper single engine last year. It’s the closest I will ever get in account if being blind but butter by it sufficiently to imagine his this must have felt. Congratulations.

    it may be complex, but not hard once you understand de concept of each action. at least this is how i learn: i can't just memorize each step, i need to understand the logic behind what i am doing

    The real fact is fly a plane is more easier than drive a car. When drive a car you need instinct by caution of traffic and fully manual control of your steering. but if you flying a plane, by just learn and remember all the instruments you will able to fly the plane... especially all aircraft have autopilot now.

    I used to do that 20 years ago when I was doing my training with OAT. I still do it when I am commanding A380 out of LHR from T5. Always talking to myself in silence and telling myself the next line of action. It’s a good tactics to keep you on top of things to come. Well done and hope to see you soon on a right seat.

    1:35 - That's exactly what I said - "God, it's lighter!!". Everything happened sooner and quicker. 2:00 - Once again - ditto!!! I was a bit more colorful, though.... 6:00 - Not sure why the carb heat is being turned on and off. I'll defer to your CFI, though... Congratulations on First Supervised Solo as PIC

    I love that she keeps reminding herself to have enough speed. Many mothers would say "promise to fly low and slow today darling", the opposite of what is safe. That was a great solo flight in a great plane.

    Well done Beth! I remember my first solo. I was so nervous I only used half the runway for takeoff. It freaked out my instructor. His eyes were pretty wide when he saw me take off. 😳😂
